Hello all,  I am giving this a go.  My attitude seems to be better this time.  I can relate to most of the others, with diet after diet.  It seems that sugar was definitely a problem in my life.  My husband and I are both giving it a go. We have many kilo's to loose.  We are on our first week.  It's nice to know we are not alone.  One query, there is not much mention of seafood, as in canned tuna and salmon, sardines,  would it be ok if unflavoured?   Good luck to all, especially the newbies.

Hi Debra,  My husband is not having any problems as yet with withdrawal symptoms,  I have had some cold like symptoms, and do get some cravings about 4pm each arvo.   I have read some different info and was a bit worried when I read that it may take months to lose the feeling for sweetness.  We were hoping it would be about 2-3 weeks.

I notice that I am not needing cake biscuits, when they are offered outside our home.  I have been dieting for most of my life, hubby only started to try and loose weight after some foot surgery.  It is very good that we are doing this together.   He is gobsmacked at the amount of sugar in cereals, biscuits etc.   We are having trouble with feeling guilty when we have full cream milk and butter.   I am having natural greek yoghurt to help with my calcium needs for osteoporosis.

We have been having plain rice cakes when we need something with some avocado or cream cheese spread.  I hope that is OK.

Thanks for advice on tinned seafood.  We have lost about 1/2 kilo so far, but not worried too much about that. If you take that over a year, it sounds better.

Looking forward to reading more about this great new way of life.

I love tinned salmon (not a fan of tinned tuna though), and I buy the flavoured ones, they go great on salad sandwiches or wraps or toasted sandwiches/toast.  Some of the flavours do contain sugar, but usually these are mostly below or around the 3g per 100g mark.

Regarding the rice cakes with cream cheese or avocado, that's perfectly fine!

Thanks Janelle for your reply.   We love salmon and I may try to make some patties.   It is great to have communication with others, we don't go out much.  I have just read David's Toxic oil book, and it is quite enlightening.  The ultimate test will be if we get good cholesterol results, next check up.

    Cheers Chris

I had my cholestrol checked not too long ago, it was 4.4, although i've never had high cholestrol, it has gone down compared to the last time I had it done it was like 4.6 or 5.0 or something.  My good cholestrol was up and my bad cholestrol was way down.

Hi Janelle,  Have you ever heard of the miracle berry,  from what I found, it consists of about 191 ammino acids plus carbohydrate, the sugars are mannose, galactose, and fucose.  It appears to make acid foods sweet.  I have it growing in my backyard and after putting the pulp into your mouth and chewing, it is possible to eat a lemon afterwards and it tastes sweet for about an hour.  It's a shame it could not be isolated and used as a sweetener, though I am sure many have tried.

    Still going strong.  Cheers
