I tried to cut sugar a cpuple of years ago.  I felt better, but then gave up.  I'm back for another try.  My eldest son (18) is overweight and my youngest son has just been diagnosed as type 1 diabetic (he is 13) so going sugar free is now a family comitment so I hope that this will make it easier to keep on with it.

Good on you for giving it another try.  I found with our kids I was showing them all the evidence of how bad sugar was for them so as a family it has been so easy and simple to stop.  We are still early days 6 or 7 weeks in but for us it has not been as hard to stop the sugar and replace with dextrose .... home cooking has always been my thing so was a basic swap over method.    My boys (16, 14) found that if we said it was our way of life now and not a diet it did not play tricks on the mind .... if that makes any sense at all.  We are not an over weight family but after watching all the videos on how bad sugar is  .... our health had to come first.

I wish you and your family well .... and like you say with the whole family supporting you this time .... you will all be winners in the end.

PS:  I have found David's cook book amazing ... boys are loving the different types of baking I can now do .... yummy.
