Hi everyone, I am from New Zealand and I have had sweet poison in my bookcase for several months, maybe even a year now. I did give a half hearted attempt to give up sugar back then, but just couldnt get my head around having to clean out the pantry of sauces and stuff. Now however I am ready to do this. I am not sure whats changed, but it no longer scares me to live without sugar. I have a ridiculously sweet tooth and have done since childhood. I have finally realised what a prison it has created for me, and at 40 yrs old, I have the sweet tooth of a young child !! still buying lollies and things to eat when I go to town.

I did paleo about a year ago for health reasons (psoriasis) and it was fantstic, but it eventually became to hard to live with. I guess  giving up only sugar seems almost easy in comparison. I do want to lose weight, but its not my primary goal. I want to have energy and good health. I dont have any real pressing health issues, but I have an inkling that they could be just around the corner as there are a couple of things niggling away.

so anyhow, I have decided to tie up the family ( 1 husband and 3 kids) and throw them on the sugar free wagon too. Luckily, we've never had a lot of processed foods in the pantry ( but we are naughty for doing the ice cream run into town a bit too often) so the kids are not used to having access to biscuits and museli bars and the like. My biggest challenge will be Mr 10s fondness for honey sandwiches, I have tried him with rice syrup and so far no complaints. Fingers crossed it wont be a biggie then.

Anyhow, I look forward to scouring the forums for lots of helpful info.
