    Hi David,

I just read your book, found it all a bit scary. I went to the supermarket looking for the brewer's sugar that you talk about. The only one available locally is 75% cane sugar. Do you know what brand or where I can get the good stuff. I have 3 kids who just can't go without bikkies and cake so I'm keen to find a way to provide this.

    Thanks

    Helen

Welcome Helen!  In Brisbane, what I buy is Brigalow 100% Dextrose (1kg bag).  You can also get Glucodin (which is identical but usually in the health food isle) but it is usually considerably more expensive.

Let us know how you go ...

    Cheers

    David.

Hi, In Melbourne I buy Glucodin at the supermarket or I can buy dextrose at my local health food shop.

    Thanks,

I live in a small country town, the local offerings are pretty slim (supermarket here is a relative term), I will check in the slightly larger town next over when I can get there.

Managed to get hold of brigalow brewer's sugar @ woolies. last 2 packets on the shelf, hope they are getting some more. It makes the porrige in the morning just a little more tasty. I have made a cake with it which tastes alright but will need a bit of tweeking to get it to look like the one Nanna used to make. This is important because I will be disowned if I present a different one at birthdays etc.

    Thanks everyone for you help.

    Helen,

Are you sure you have the right stuff?  It will say 'Dextrose' on the front NOT Brewer's sugar (which is 75% sugar).

    Cheers

    David.

Here's a photo of the one we get around here:

Thanks David i found the same product much cheaper yesterday in a new discount store which opened a couple of days ago about half the price.
