Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what David means about dextrose harming you? I have a friend & her husband who are reducing their sugar intake & he has recently been diagnosed with myeloma which is a type of blood cancer. My friend is reading David's books & has the cook book also, she doesn't want to do anything that may harm her husband. I understand from reading that sugar feeds cancer, what will the dextrose do if he doesn't completely give up sugar?

Hi Karen! I am no doctor and am only 5 weeks into my sugar free journey and have just started using dextrose in my cooking (like literally days ago). I found this information

http://www.easy-sugarfree.com/dextrose.html From reading some of David's work I was under the impression that if you are continuing a normal diet with fructose and then adding dextrose recipes as well, then that is where problems can arise. But assuming dextrose if a form of glucose and glucose is able to be broken down and used by the body, then it would be fine.

I will be following this post to see if anyone else can shed more light on this question.

    Cheers Jess

I  haven't combed through "Sweet Poison"  which has no index , but from memory, what the previous commentator said is relevant while you are going through the withdrawal period. Later it does not present any problems.

    Yes agreed.

Avoid fructose ALWAYS. It's the baddie!

When you have withdrawn from fructose, then dextrose is fine to use when needed.
