Hi David and members,
I am exactly 4 weeks into sugar elimination lifestyle. My partner Mike is also doing it. I would like to document here, how it is going, and then maybe update in another 4 week's time and so on.
I began at 90kg, constantly tired, spasmodic depression, increasingly forgetful and stressed and very very unfit.
I went cold turkey, excluding one piece of fruit/day, and had withdrawn in 3 days. This truly amazed me, especially when I read how withdrawal can take women quite a bit longer. The habit of reaching for something was something I had to remind myself not to do, like smokers must do at break time, but I did not actually desire sugar after 3 days.
Outcomes so far:
- Immediately my stomach began to shrink - almost literally. So much so that I checked the scales daily wondering where the flab was going. My weight went up and down to begin with and then began to drop. I am 3.5 kg lighter today, and have dropped from a size 18 to a snug size 16
- I feel ridiculously light and clear headed
- I sleep better and for less, waking earlier and wanting to get up
- I have not had one depressive day which is a liberating feeling
- I don't crave sugar, including fruit. I have an orange or some strawberries every couple of days
- I cannot overeat, my appetite control is fully restored
- I eat much less overall
- I don't feel deprived or restricted because I can still have 'bad' things which I realise in small amounts are not completely evil, eg. hot chips at the football etc
- My left big toe, which may be a bunion and usually aches a lot, no longer aches much
- My energy levels are even throughout the day
If someone had told me all of this would have occurred from 4 weeks without sugar I would have been very skeptical.
I have really enjoyed reading a number of books about sugar and am very sure that this is finally the solution to a number of my health issues and potential health problems. When my GP praised your books and agreed with the anti-sugar approach I was even more assured.
I am really looking forward to checking back in after another 4 weeks. Life is good.
Thank you,
Pam
