I started not eating or drinking sugar three weeks ago. After a long and hard withdrawal I was feeling great and had lost three kilos. However, then I ate a small (2cm by 2cm) piece of brownie fudge! I thought since it was small that it wouldn't matter too much, but I was wrong! I am now craving sugar non stop and feel constantly hungry again. Does any one have any idea how long this will last for? I am trying to remember all of the health benefits of giving up sugar, but I must admit I do feel like giving in at the moment.

Stay strong Jacinta, I was lucky and my cravings were not that bad, and yes I was a crazy chocaholic.  Once you get through the withdrawal there are some great recipes in David's Quit Plan.  I have been making the Anzac Biscuits for my grandson who we are getting off sugar (fructose) for health reasons.  He absolutely loves them, and I have to say they are really yummy.  I am also going to try the almond bread with gluten free flour today for my daughter who has Celiac disease.  I will be using artificial sweetener for her as she also has an intolerance to all sugars not just fructose.  I have made that for my grandson as well with Davids recipe, again really nice.    There is a recipe for brownies, that I have not tried yet, but suspect they would be very nice.

I am 8 weeks in to my fructose free lifestyle and have lost just under 5 kilos.  A little slower than I would have liked but this is the first time I have not felt like I was on a restrictive diet.  I find some weeks the weight goes up and then it comes down, even though I am eating generally the same all the time.  Good luck I am sure you will find once you get through the withdrawal you will find it much easier.

Thanks for your reply Diane. I got through the cravings after two days and am back on track now. You have inspired me to try some recipes. I have ordered dextrose from my local health food shop and will do some baking this weekend!
