How Much Sugar?

Day 3

I am now on day 3 of reducing and eliminating sugar.  What is strange is that I while I do feel different, I don't feel like complete crap yet.  I have noticed things already starting to taste sweet.  I am a complete banana fiend and they are sweeter now than they have ever been before as are pears and kiwifruit.

They are my new sweet fix.  Normally I could eat 3-4 in a day.  Bad?  Yes, however I am now down to 1 per day and I am finding it a good thing to have for morning tea.

So I am waiting for the withdrawals to really start to kick in.  Knowing my luck, it will be over the weekend when I am at the Medieval Winterfest Show in Parramatta Park (3-4 July).
If anyone will be there, I will be the one in the long daffodil yellow dress.  Stop by and say hi.

On the plus side, I have dropped a 1/2 kilo since Wednesday.
    Regards

Alonya ... some people are just lucky that way and never have any really bad withdrawal symptoms - sounds like you are doing brilliantly - keep up the good work!

    Cheers

    Thanks David.

I am now at day 7 and the withdrawals didn't kick in.  I think David is right and that I am one of the exceptionally lucky ones.  I actually tried a taste of Fanta over the weekend to see what it was like.  It tasted and felt like I was drinking the orange syrup straight. Ughh.  It was foul.

Glucose is now tasting sweet and I am going to have a go at making some ice-cream.  Vanilla is my favorite flavour so when I get the recipe right, I will post it.

I am still waiting for my copy of the book to arrive, so in the meantime, I am getting by simply by using the sugar guides and reading this forum.  I am finding this much easier than any other 'diet/lifestyle' plan that I have been on and I have not weighed myself yet this week, however the tummy bloating has receded and this is the most significant change so far.

    Till next time.

I seem to be using this forum as a bit of a blog.

Yay, my Sweet Poison Quit Plan book arrived in the post today.
So now that I have both books in my hot little hands, I will be able to do this properly.

My man made me a cup of tea last night and accidentally put one tsp of sugar in it.  I went to drink it, unaware he had used sugar and I just about spit it through my nose.  It was so sweet.  I ended up making another.  It is amazing that I am now on day 9 and a simple cup of white tea with one sugar is completely non-ingestible.

I am not missing my regular fruit toast for breakfast either.

    Till next time

    Thanks for the feedback. :-)

Well this weekend was a big weekend.  I decided to try and drink some fizzy drink for the first time in a few weeks, just to see what it was like.  So I bought a can of Lemonade.  Usually I would have purchased a large bottle and drunk the lot.

I attempted the can and found it was very sweet.  To be honest, yes I did enjoy it but I decided that after that can, I didn't want another one.  A breakthrough?  I think so.  It was quite enough and yes, I did feel it afterward.  I was not a happy camper at all.  What I found interesting was the after effects the next morning.  I had terrible tummy cramps (worse than the monthly ones) and a long trip to the bathroom ensued with windows needing to be opened.  I had never noticed this side effect before.

And even more interesting, I was watching a late night TV programme last week called the 'Embarrassing Body Bus' and on this programme there was a lady who had a dozen can a day fizzy drink habit.  Her teeth were really bad and looked like they were dropping out.  What I did realise at that stage was that all my own tooth aches have all disappeared.  I had painful teeth a few weeks ago and didn't realise it.  Yet another reason to not drink fizzy drink.

So it was a weekend of revelation and self discovery.  I really like the glucose in my tea now.  I am also sure my brain is saying "thank you very much" (in a bad Elvis voice).

    Hi Alonya

Sounds like your going great guns, I've been on this lifestyle plan for 2 1/2 weeks now, and like you haven't had any cravings, I'm surprised as I had the biggest sugar fix with sometimes a family block each day, anyway going with the flow,

    keep in touch

    Lyn
