2 days ago i eliminated fructose from my eating...
    still struggling emotionally....

today i ended up at hospital with my 7month old girl.... (very stressed) while waiting i went to the drink machine my partner wanted a COKE and so i got his coke, then i got my water.... all good...
because i was at the hospital it had been about 5 hours since eating, there is no cafertia at our little hospital so i had to settle for chips from the vending machine... i choose my chips, as i went to get them out.... i see a CHOCOLATE BAR that had fallen down... i grabbed it too... walked back to my partner, still hadnt decided if i was going to eat it or not.... i sat there for ages looking at the label, trying to work out if it was safe to have ONE square.... i put it back in my bag.... brought it home... looked again... put it away...!!!!
I DIDNT EAT ANY OF IT.......!!!!!!!! (nor did i drink any of my partners coke)

this is a big struggle and i have been feeling very flat, hazy, numb....

what i want to know is WHEN should i be noticing the first of the withdrawals??? do they stay the same through the whole withdrawal?? i know its different for everyone, but just needing to know, just so i can prepare myself emotionally.

48hours in...!!! very proud of that, never thought i'd make it 2 days!!! LOL

Congratulations. It becomes easier with each passing day. I stopped eating fructose on July 27th last year and have lost a lot of weight and I did not suffer from any withdrawal symptoms. This is not extraordinary! Some people seem to have an easy time as I did; others will have to endure varying degrees of withdrawal.

However it is far easier than quitiing tobacco and it is without doubt, after stopping smoking, the best thing you can do for your health.

Best of luck on your quest and I hope you are successful.

    Regards

Great work Carol - 48 hours is nothing to sneeze at.  And seriously well done for resisting the coke and chocolate at the hospital.  I hope your daughter is ok.

In terms of withdrawl it seems everyone is different.  The haziness etc you describe sounds like withdrawl to me.  I had 3 days of withdrawl only (so lucky!) and it consisted of awful headaches and unquenchable thirst.  I think I got through it very lightly!  I've been fructose-free since 1 March and have only had sugar on 2-3 occasions since then.  Each time I've felt off all day the next day - vaguely hungry and dissatisfied (ate large quantities of non-fructose snacks on those days) and felt generally blah.  It's all very interesting!

Good luck with it all - and keep up the good work!

    thank you Freda...!!!
they are awful withdrawals, i was thinking i'd prefer stomach cramps, etc... emotional withdrawals are harder i rekon, i guess it just shows how i have used sugar to get me through my days. being a stay at home mum, theres times where i have to make sure i have the energy to get everything done... sugar helps this...!!!  well day 3 passed now, and less haziness, and numbness, although i didnt really get much cleaning done today and probably could have slept all day, given the chance.

my friend who is also doing this, has a feeling of being sick and headaches, but i keep telling her to drink more water. lol.

    Thank you Michelle,
Yes she is ok now, has a bad cough poor little princess :'(!!!!
it was definitely a test... i spent so long wondering why i was doing this, and if i really wanted to, i didnt decide that i definitely wanted to do this... but i put the chocolate away, so i guess deep down i know that i do want to. its just weird i guess, the thought of goign out for dinner and not gettin COKE with my drink, or not eating a chocolate like right now while im on the computer. but i said if i can do 1 day, i can do 2. and now if ive done 3 i can do another 3.... surely!!!!
yes the thirst you talk about... its crazy. i have that too... its like your whole mouth is doing somersaults trying to absorb the water you give it...!!!!

yes you are lucky that your withdrawals werent much, very lucky. i got my fingers crossed its all over now day 4 tomorrow. but somehow i think imight be wrong. i read stuff in the other forums about withdrawals weeks into it.... arrghhhhh!!!!
well done for doing so well and even when you have something that you know isnt good, you feel the difference, yes very interesting indeed!!!!
    :)
