How Much Sugar?

Something went wrong.

I'm a binge eater from way back and today I binged big time, not on fructose foods, but yes sweet foods that I'd made from dextrose, and on other things too.  It's been 5 weeks since going fructose-free.

So I think I know what happened.  I ate out Friday and Saturday nights but didn't have dessert and that was fine.  On Sunday night we had Thai and although I tried to pick less-sugar choices I think the sugar got to me and then the next day and today I started to eat poorly again.

I had also put on 1.2kg when I weighed myself on Sunday and was a bit down about that.  And today I felt dreadful and thought I was coming down with something.  Perhaps it was sugar withdrawal from Sunday night?

So from tomorrow I'm back on non-sweet foods.  I think I introduced dextrose and rice malt syrup too early on.

On a good note, my older son is having a week trialling fructose-free, and it was all his idea.  He is of a normal weight but last doctor's visit they said his blood pressure was highish so he wants to get that down.

I'm feeing the same way Nadine. I have to be careful because I have let myself eat things that I probably shouldn't eat. And when my friend bought me a sugar filled cake I felt like I couldn't say no. I don't know how those extra sugary things are affecting my body. I have also eaten a lot of the dextrose things (and it's only my 2nd week - I think - maybe my 3rd). I haven't gained weight but I certainly haven't lost weight - actually - I don't really know of a time when I have been almost the same weight from week to week!

Good luck with it all, just know that there are people out there that are doing/going through the same thing!

On a positive note here is a link to a website aimed at helping get people moving more - exactly the sort of thing I need at the moment when it's cold and winter.

If anyone wants to join me please do! I'm doing the 7 wonders of the world walk - starting tomorrow when (hopefully) I will get my pedometer.
