    Hello

I have been following the quit plan for about 5 weeks now and have been losing weight pretty consistently (not heaps but steady).

I am away from home and for some reason cannot remember if we are supposed to aim to have less than 10g of sugars in total per day or is it 10% of fructose (ie half of the sugar intake from foods other than fruit, less dairy).

    Your responses would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Marian

Basically aim for 10g of fructose per day, the less the better.

Thank you Janelle, much appreciated.  Yes, I usually try to aim a lot lower than the 10g but I had forgotten if that was just fructose.

    Hi Marian,

I think the 10 grams of fructose a day includes fruit.

Hi ladies ...I am a little confused. Is it less than 10gms fructose per day? if so does that mean 20gms sugar and half is fructose...and does this mean over the whole day and relating to everything you eat.
thanks if you can clear that up...Carolyn

    Hi Carolyn
it's less than 10 grams of SUGAR a day. If you keep down to two pieces of fruit a day, this will make that amount anyway. I don't have fruit every day, I only have it if I crave it and then only berries. We don't actually need to eat any fructose at all. Our cells use a little fructose to replicate and if they need it, they make it from the glucose already in our bodies.
    Hope that helps
    cheers

Thanks Freda...another thing...I went to the "beer shop" and bought glucose powder.
I also bought glucose liquid at woolies. Now I do not know if this powder is the same as dextrose powder that people talk about.
I need to go back and read Davids book again and I think I will try to buy hard copy as I work away from home a lot and having it on the computer is not always easily accessable. anyway thanks for your help....Carolyn
