I haven't been posting any recipes (I have a lot on the free forum site) of late, but I've been thinking and really want some input from others. I love cooking, more so baking and I've been cooking for years and if I didn't have an office job I would be in the cooking industry. Well over the past few weeks I've been coming up with some quite lovely recipes and great adaptions to some very well known favourites. I've been testing these out with family and the prize taste testers being my kids lol. I have gotten big ticks from everyone. Now what I'm thinking is and I think it was someone mentioned about me doing an ebook or something. My husband mentioned the same thing and I was talking to my inlaws and they actually mentioned it too and they are very much in support of me attempting it. These are the types of things I've been making:

    • Low car doughnuts with low carb chocolate frosting
    • blueberry and coconut muffins (both ordinary ones and low carb)
    • lemon meringue pie
    • pavlova (with artificial sweetner)
    • chocolate caramel slice (this one is the winner, normal sugar eaters think this is better then the original version)

So what does everyone else think?? I'm not sure where to start, I thought about self publishing but will look into that sort of stuff later, I need to start writing out all the recipes because at the moment they are all locked up in my head.

    Hi Janelle

I would love the lemon meringue, pavlova and choc slice if you can.  Are they on the free forum and if so how do I get to it?

Hi Janelle - I think there are a lot of people on the forum willing to buy your e-book. Those of us who have been adventurous in trying to find alternatives to traditional sugar based cakes and sweets know how much time, effort and money (with so much of it being trial and error) is spent perfecting a recipe. I would certainly buy from someone who is passionate enough to do all the hard ground work to provide tried and proven recipes. Last year I did a couple of courses by correspondence through the Sydney Writers Centre at Milson's Point and have noticed them advertising seminars and workshops on "Self Publishing" and "Selling your e-book on Amazon". I enjoyed the courses through this particular centre - they were well structured, informative and gave invaluble feedback from published authors - but there are many places who run similar course if you have a look online.

Looking forward to seeing what materialises!

    Good Luck :-)

Thanks! I have a week off over easter and I'm going to start typing up some of my recipes! I have so many now, the newest addition was chocolate eclaires (would have been eclairs if I had the right size nozzle for my piping bag.  The chocolate caramel slice is probably the best though and I have another variation to the lemon meringue pie which I am yet to try out, oh and not forgetting lemon jelly slice.  My freezer is just about full from the result of all my baking lol.  I'll have to check out some websites about self publishing but I've heard that ebooks are quite easy.

    Hi Janelle

I don't want to wait for the e-book - can I buy the caramel slice recipe from you right now?  Serious!

    Cheers

Now there's an idea Janelle - set up a web site with mouthwatering photos for us to drool over and have members 'pay per recipe'. Catch us before withdrawal and you'd clean up :o)

    Janelle,

I think an e-book of your recipes would be excellent. I don’t know what the ‘Free Forum’ is you have talked about. I came across and article on Arrowroot recently that noted if added when making Ice-cream, that is genuine Arrowroot Flour, helps stop it being as icicle. I have always had some Arrowroot in the house as it is a good ‘Invalid’ food if unwell and makes a softer Blancmange if you add a little to the Cornflour. I don’t know now what I have been using as when I went to buy some more to try with the ice-cream noted it is actually Tapioca flour, labeled ‘Arrowroot’. Did some internet research to try and find out why Tapioca is labeled Arrowroot and found that Tapioca comes from a completely different plant than Arrowroot. Genuine Arrowroot is very expensive to produce apparently. I found an Aussie Forum where this was discussed and those writing to this forum on Arrowroot were quite annoyed at this deception and were trying to find out how to get the genuine thing as they were saying it doesn’t give the same result  as the real deal to recipes they wanted to use it in. So don’t know whether this would make a difference in the Ice-cream by using the Tapioca flour and how much too actually add. I did try it with some ice-cream I made recently but can’t tell if any different. Need to make it next time without adding the ‘Tapioca/Arrowroot’ and see what it is like. Do you know anything about this use or information on it in your library of recipe books?

Thanks SA, to update for people on here (I update more on the free website as I can't access this webiste at work lol), I met with a lovely Lawyer who is happy to help me.  My oven has been broken and we finally got it fixed so I've been madly cooking again.  I just happened to make chocolate chip cookies tonight which are quite lovely, tomorrow is chocolate mud cake, I have perfected making cooking chocolate, but not eating chocolate (been too lazy to buy some cocoa butter).
