    Hey guys,

Night 8 here and going well.  Im feeling particularly proud of myself tonight because I went to a kids party where there were chocolates, cake, lollies etc etc and I didn't have any of them.  I won't lie and say I didn't want them because they still appealed to me but I just didn't think it was worth the trouble of starting back at square one and having to start all over again!  I hope it does get a bit easier and there is no desire to want that food at all, but so far im pretty happy with how im doing :)

    yay !!!

My experience was, at first I felt like I wanted it, but wanted to try this thing.  Then I still wanted it, but knew it was bad for me, and eventually, I just didn't want it any more.  There are people in the family who would wave chocolate under my nose, and other people would yell at them, and I'd say, he doesn't get it, I don't want those things any more.  So, you're on the right path, and if you stick to it, you'll get to the point where you just don't want them any more.

yes it does get easier, things like that don't really interest me much anymore I'm happy with crackers and dip or may indulge in some chips.  The last bbq birthday party I was at I was just too full from the bbq.

Hi all,I have been suger free for two years now and it has been a life changing event for me.I met an old friend of mine on the weekend and told him of my success.I have lost 14 kilos in the first 6 months and have been at my gold weight ever since without worrying what I eat.I told him about Dectrose powder which I havnt used for nearly two years as I pretty much went cold turkey and he was horrified that I was useing it.He goes to a Naturopath and said it was absolutely poison as there 8 year old son has type 2 diabetes and now I am realy confused as My wife and son use Dectrose.Have not herd a bad thing about Dectrose until now.He said cows milk is bad for you as well, but I am not giving up on my milk. They have fruit juice as well where as my family dont drink any juice at all ,all we drink is water or milk.I am pretty sure we are doing the write thing.Has anyone else herd about this,is there a naturopath amongst us who could please shed some light on the matter as I said this is the first time I have herd anything bad about Dectrose.

Naturopaths are one step away from homeopaths on the quack medicine scale.  I would regard it as a point of honor that they don't like what I'm eating.  Sounds like a good sign to me.

Remember, if you look long enough, you can find any opinion you want.  That doesn't mean it's right.  Here is the Wiki definition:

"Naturopathy, or Naturopathic Medicine, is a controversial form of alternative medicine based on a belief in vitalism, which posits that a special energy called vital energy or vital force guides bodily processes such as metabolism, reproduction, growth, and adaptation.[1] Naturopathic philosophy favors a holistic approach and seeks to find the least invasive measures necessary for symptom improvement or resolution, thus encouraging minimal use of surgery and drugs. According to the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges, "Naturopathic medicine is defined by principles rather than by methods or modalities. Above all, it honors the body’s innate wisdom to heal."[2]"

do you believe your body contains 'vitalism' ? The only question here is, why are quacks allowed to practice what they call medicine, in violation of everything science knows about the human body ? The thing that draws me most to David's books is that they are based on rational science, not weird theories that cannot be verified by science.

I guess if there are any naturopaths or homeopaths ( who, for the record, sell you water and call it medicine ) here, I'm off their Christmas card list.... :-)

lol Christian but I do agree, screw your naturopath and go for what is right and don't listen to him., can't be totally wrong since you've lost so much weight.

Exactly, if it's worked for two years, how does an opinion change that ? Especially from someone with no real qualification and a vested interest in weird ideas.
