Hi, Ive been sugar free for nearly 6mths and have lost 15 kgs and Im starting to experiment with a few different things now that ive overcome my addiction. Ive had a few lunches of sushi, just normal prawn and cucumber and avo, havent eaten any terriaki or the flavoured sorts. Im just wondering about the sugar content in the sushi rice and stuff. does anyone know? cheers :-)

sushi is touch and go i think.  I have heard that sushi places add a special mixutre in with the rice to help make it stick and it does contain sugar... although I can't be certain.  Looking at calorie king 1 roll, either prawn, terri chicken and even the chicken and avo all contain about the 7-8g of sugar.  However the food standards website says something different.  Calorie king says the california roll has 8g of sugar, the food standards website says it has 2.8g of sugar per roll (1.23g of fructose).  I'd be more inclined to go with the food standards results then calorie king.  At the end of the day you could make worse choices.  I've actually had sushi not a few weeks ago and it was yum! I was naughty and got the terri chicken though :)  I don't see a problem with it as long as it's not an every day kinda thing
