I have been sugar free for 6 months.
I used to say that cake was my favourite food...cheese cake, fruit cake, fruit mince pies, chocolate cake. I could not be left alone with a cake as I would demolish it single handed.
My special delight was to have coffee and cake. Some of my most blissful moments were spent in coffee shops.
That's all changed now. I can't say I don't miss my cake because I do.
However I have found something very satisfying to have with my coffee and that is avocado on turkish bread. You won't find this on the menu but a good cafe will prepare it for you.
    It is delicious.
I did not give up sugar to lose weight and I don't routinely weigh myself but I weighed myself yesterday and I found that I have lost a few kilos .
I think it is best not to focus on weight loss. You know that sugar is bad for you and if you slim down after refraining then that is a bonus.

    Hi Trish

I was just going back through some of the earlier emails and noticed yours.

Like you I used to love going out for coffee and cake. It was a lovely sociable thing to do with friends and family.  I still do have the coffee but nothing else and I have noticed that some friends look at me strangely when I refuse the cake. Even after 2 1/2 years of being sugar free. :)

Not sure how much sugar is in Turkish bread but it still has to be better than cake from a café.

Well done Trish. Hope you are doing well on your sugar free way of living.

    All the best.
