Less sugar....more pimples?

    Hi everyone,

I have been doing the no sugar thing now for about 7 weeks.  The first few weeks I actually found it quite easy, then hit a rough spot for a bit, didn't go back on sugar, but craved chocolate and ended up getting the 'sugarless' blocks from the health store.  (The ones made of malitol).  I ate a couple of blocks over the next few days.

Since I have eaten them, I have started getting lots of pimples.  It has been going on for about 2 weeks now, and is driving me crazy.  I am 44, and haven't had pimples since I was a teenager, but now there are about 4 or 5 on my face and upper chest all the time.

Has anyone else had skin breakouts since giving up sugar?  Not sure if it's something to do with the chocolate, or the timing was just a coincidence.  Would love to hear from anyone who may shed some light on this problem for me.  Very disappointed since I thought cutting out all that sweet stuff would have made my skin even better.

    Cheers,

    Yvette

    Hi Yvette

I didn't have that problem but when I have been on other diets the change can be from the toxins exiting the body.

Maybe it's because your getting the body of a teenager!!!  Hope it gets better soon

Yvette ... I'd try deleting the maltitol chocolate ... Maltitol is metabolised to sugar anyway, so as long as you're eating it, you're still eating sugar!

    Cheers

    David.

PS Most people tell me that the pimples are much less when they are sugar free, so it look like there's definitely something unusual going on ...

oh ok.  I bet that is what it was then.  I'm afraid I had brain overload from all the information in your book, and couldn't remember which one metabolised to sugar.  Glad to say, the problem seems to have righted itself now anyway.  Very sad though that I can't fall back on that chocolate when I am desperate.  Hopefully the craving won't happen again. Thanks for the insight.

P.S.  Have been on holidays and took the books with, and my kind of non-believer sceptical husband read them, and is now driving everyone nuts with all his 'sugar' information.  As he once said to me, 'nothing worse than a reformed sugar-holic'.  lol
