Dextrose shortage

    I have just learned that Woolworths is going to follow Coles' lead by dumping their home brew section. This will mean we will have to go to the brew shop to buy dextrose. However, it means the perfect chance to stock up. Woolworths in Darwin is selling off their remaining stock at low prices.  

    I have not been able to buy glucodin powder from either Coles or Woolies for a few weeks.

    Watch the calories for Christmas.

    Hi David F,

    I've never been able to find dextrose in the home brew section of any Coles or Safeway near me (just outside melb metro), but I get dextrose as "glucodin" from chemists, Ritchies supermarkets and (most expensively) at priceline. You could try your local chemists, even get them to order it. It's marketted as an energy powder.

    Hi David, I live in Adelaide and I can get Dextrose at Kmart in the brewers section. If you have Kmart in Darwin you might be able to get it there.

    I buy my dextrose from Franklins in Ulladulla NSW. They just got a more stock of ? can't remember so I don't think they have plans to drop the brew section.

    Hi all, re the dextrose. I bought mine from Big W Rockdale Plaza NSW on 9TH Dec 2010. It cost me $2.98 for a 1 kilo bag.
    A subsequent e-mail to Big W told me they had no intentions to stop selling it. The Product code is 1457353, it is the Brigalow Brand and is located in the home brew section.
    Hope this helps all of you who are paying thru' the nose for it!
