Hello there,  Well, it seems it is different for everyone.  I have been fructose free for 2 months and havent lost anything but havent gained anything either.  I had an ice cream last night and found I ate it much slower and enjoyed it but didnt get huge sugar cravings afterwards (yay!!!).  I have developed an eating disorder as a result of yoyo dieting and excessive exercising since age 13, basically I was obsessed with food.  I am the heaviest I have ever been at the moment - 97 kilos and 172 cms tall.  I reckon I need to lose about 20 kilos.  I have to avoid dieting as it is what made me fat in the first place (other than sugar) so not sure if sugar avoidance is going to lead to weight loss for me.   Each journey is unique.  Cheers  L

You are right, Leharna, everybodies body is different, & what works for me, probably won't work for you. John you are an inspiration for all of us. I will be 69 on Tuesday, so I've a way to go to catch you up, mind. But good on you for being a fanatical label reader, and on your weight loss.

I lost 6.8 kilos by Xmas Eve, was really good over Xmas, except I was eating more, to compensate for not eating anything sugary in the jolly season, so I put on almost 4 kilos by Feb. So I had to 'tweak' my eating, I cut back on bread & potatoes, change the white pasta & rice for brown, & cut back on my portion sizes. Now I am 14 kilos lost, and have been fructose free for 11 months.

So yes, Em,you can lose weight, but it depends on your metabolism, I guess. Try cutting back on portion sizes. Try keeping a food diary for a week or so, & see where you're maybe eating more than you should.
If it's motivation you need, try joining the SparkPeople website. There are so many inspirational people there it's heartbreaking. One woman, who is one of the women who run the Sparkies Down Under SparkTeam, was so big she had to get around in a wheelchair, but now she exercises & has lost so much weight, I can't get my head around it all. There are people there who have all sorts of ailments, arthritis, scoliosis, you name it, they got it....Just put SparkPeople in your search engine & it will come up. It's an American site, so using their recipe/calorie counter is challenging, but it's fun. You can make yourself a SparkPage, & upload some photos, whatever you like. It has weight trackers, so much stuff to help you. Sign up for some of the free newsletters, you can get exercises, recipes, motivational advice on everything under the sun. I've made some good friends since going on there, some from Oz, some from the States & Canada.

Em, have you joined up with David's other site, the free one, Sweet Poison yet?  Lots of stuff you can look up on there. Just 2 more questions. 1. Have you made yourself any goals yet? Long & short term ones. 2. Are you doing any exercise? Even walking will help, if you do it fairly regularly, with a view to upping it as you get smaller & lighter. We love a good story, so keep trying, Em & keep on posting.

I wish lots of success for you, Em. Don't give up. Just keep on 'tweaking'! good Luck......

Thanks SO MUCH Silver Angel.  You are full of enthusiasm and I love it.  Thanks for the advice too.

Yes I agree it is all about tweaking and working out what is right for you.  At the moment I am eating way too many carbs in the form of bread and dry biscuits.  So this is where I need to start.

I have joined David's other site Sweet Poison but have not checked in of late - must do.

Thanks everyone for writing back - I really enjoy your input.

Cheers and good luck to you all

    Em
