My husband has been on a health kick after some health issues and I am having trouble thinking of snacks for him. He is off the beer so gets hungry of an evening when he normally drinks beer. I have made home made icecream but realise he can't have that every night. Can anyone suggest snacks he can have through out the day and also at night.

He might find if he is off fructose and he is eating until the fullness sets in that he doesn't actually need to snack any more.  That's what usually happens.

In the past this is what I've snacked on (fructose-free)

cheese and crackers, nuts, greek natural yoghurt with fruit in it (like mashed banana, and dessicated coconut), crackers with tuna, crackers or veges with hummus, toast and vegemite.

Nadine you are an inspiration. Here's what I snack on. Lo-cal jelly with cream after dinner, or a handful of nuts,(almonds) popcorn is also an idea, plain of course. A few Arnotts Shapes, not too many, tho'.  Fry 2 eggs, with spray on oil, stir eggs to mix up a bit, add 1 slice of cheese and let melt. Turn out onto either a wrap, or just kitchen paper & roll up. About 2 hours before bedtime I'll have a cup of cocoa, made on all milk & a chunk of cheese.   The warm milk helps me sleep, I read somewhere recently that a small amount of carbs with the cocoa also help with sleep. Otherwise I've been doing the Dolly Parton diet. I mouthful of anything you like!! As long as it's only 1 mouthful. hehe....

    Good luck

    Hey Nicole,

I can relate to your husbands snack problem. After dinner , watching tele can be a challenging time. I rotate a few things around : nuts ( mainly almonds, but not too many ), I bake some of the biscuits found in the recipes section of this website, some rice crackers, some weet crackers and even a little salsa.
The bikkis are great and easy to make.

During the day, I usually snack on protein : slices of ham, chicken, beef, sausages, rissoles , whatever about 100gms or vegetables, vegetables and vegetables, plus a No Sugar home baked bikki.

Make sure he sticks to his health kick. I am happy to share all my experiences. If you would like them just ask.

I have made popcorn and sprinkled it with  seasoned salt and parmasan cheese. I think it is a tasty and  cheap snack.
