We're all different in the way our bodies respond to the no sugar way. I feel a lot better and have also severely cut down carbs as my body doesn't like them and they can make me eat too much.
One thing though, don't substitute sugar for honey................it's pure fructose and an absolute no no!
If you crave sweetness, then use rice malt syrup as it's just glucose.
But I find it safer to be savory as even having a desert made with glucose, for me, it sets up carb cravings.
Over Christmas, I will eat a couple of glucose flavoured deserts as that is my contribution to the festivities.
    cheers

It may be that you are still eating more than your body needs or you are not quite as active as you need to be. Try reducing the size of your meals, limiting the wine to one glass per day and have two alcohol free days per week, limiting the apple and changing to Kiwi fruit, blueberries or peaches and walking a little every hour.  I'm sure that it will help. Even reducing your intake by 100 calores per day may tip the balance!

I read this with great interest as I have been frustose free for 5 weeks and only lost a kilo which is a little disheartening. I have noticed changes for the better though that have kept me hanging in there -I don't get the highs and lows that I used to, I don't have sugar cravings these days (but I do still get very hungry), my eyes are less tired feeling and my fingernails are growing strong and healthy for the first time in years!

I saw something on Sarah Wilson's facebook page that was interesting though. Sarah is very much into the sugar free regime also and makes references to David's work, but in one of her videos she says that some people don't lose weight because if the liver is fatty (and I know mine is) then it's all clogged up with toxins and fat and doesn't work the way it should to break the fat down. So I got some liver tonic from my naturopath a couple of days ago and will be interested to see the results. Will also need to work on adjusting the rest of my intake too now that I have the sugar free under control.

I find it really really helpful to read all the stories, questions and answers form others following this prgroamme....it's a great help thank you

    Brenda :-)

Hi, Brenda, and welcome to the forums. You should go one step further and read Sarah Wilson's Blog, right through, i mean..... I get it as a weekly newsletter, Her writings complement Davids books and research, as that's where she started, too. She has Hahimoto's, so is not only low fructose, but gluten free as well. She has some terrific recipes for eating healhty and low fructose, and her readers add their own things into the mix, I love jusrt reading the forums. One thread is all about the differnt teas people love, and another about different kinds of smoothies they have dreamt up, full of yummy goodness, healthy and low fructose, too.
If you are having problems, what Liz said may help. also consider the Leptin Research, here is the link to the thread, over on the Sweet Poison forum, here :-

    http://sweetpoison.myfreeforum.org/about2195.html&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=hard+lose&start=0

Myself, I lost 19 kilis, just by going low fructose, over about 13 -14 months, but I am now stuck, so I am looking for answers, too, as I would love to lose another 10 kilos.  (That will mean I'm still about 15 kilos overweight, but as I'm approaching 70, I'll settle for another 10k loss. Too much loose skin for my liking!).....sigh......

One thing I read recently was an excellent article that brought together all the research on the was lack of sleep affects weight loss.  I had already done the research myself, but this put it all into context in a readable way, and reminded me that my sleeping patterns are all over the place.

    Good luck, Brenda......

    Love

    Hello Sylvia,

Thanks so much for you tips. I did sign up to Sarah Wilson's emails actually and got my first one yesterday with some yummy looking recipes! I love reading as much as I can too....it really helps to know I am not the only one going through it.

Well done you for the kilos you have shed....that's awesome! And good luck with the rest. That's a huge acheivement so far though because they say it gets harder to get it off as we get older.

I bought David's knew book on Thurs night - started reading it a little that night but I think it will be a big help too.

    thanks again

    Brenda xx

Brenda, Hi...I feel so silly!! I just read your post again, and how I answered it. I'm blushing. I think I must have been interrupted in between reading it and typing the answer, well, I must have done, don't you think? No-one could be that stupid!!

How is the liver cleansing tonic going?  Noticed any difference?

I have been on the LR for 8 days now & lost 3 kilos.  Yay..now for the rest. I had little slip ups yesterday & today,  emotional eating, stressed out a bit....working on it though.

    Cheers,
    Sylvia xx
