How Much Sugar?

What about fruit juice and the addition of soluble fibre?

So as the sugar bible states that fruit juices (no added sugar of course) are a big no no due to the lack of fibre content. What would be the situation with incorporating soluble fiber into freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice? I am currently working on a major university assignment based on nutrition innovation and need to find an answer to this. If anyone can help that would be great!

What is the point? Why take the fibre out and then put it back? Why not just eat the whole fruit in the first place? Are you perhaps working for a 'fruit processing plant'?  :)

If an apple juice comprised the juice from 4 apples then you'd have to put an awful lot of fibre back in.

Must admit I've thought of the juice plus fibre question myself.  Also, I wonder with dried fruit what the difference is of having some dried fruit with a whole lot of water?

If you put your fruit into the blender, instead of the juicer, I think you would have your fruit juice with all of the fibre. Nothing is lost.  I remember having the most delich fruit juice cocktails when in Bali.  I think they just mix them up in a blender?

That would work if you only juiced up one piece of fruit (and not mango or pineapple perhaps?)

The "sugar bible" does not say that fruit juice is out because of a lack of fibre.  The reason that fruit juice is so bad is that it concentrates the fructose from 6-8 pieces of fruit into one serve, as well as removing the fibre.  So you get a huge hit of fructose in one go.

The point being that you are better off eating one piece of whole fruit, and drinking water.

So adding fibre to fruit juice makes about the same sense as adding it to soft drink.  It sounds like the sort of thing manufacturers come up with to convince us to buy an unhealthy product.
