Health Decline from no sugar?

I've been off sugar since the middle of August, and have lost around 10kgs, but now the weight isn't come off as fast.  Unfortunately I feel like my health is falling apart, and I'm wondering if it's the lack of sugar?
I'm eating pretty healthily without sugar, and I really don't miss it.  When I see sugary foods now I very rarely have any thoughts about eating them anymore.  I don't have cravings either.  I have slow-releasing carbs, oatmeal and berries for brekky, vegetables and grains, meats. I've had sugary foods on two occasions now, and it goes straight through and I have tummy upsets for a couple of days - I went on a high-energy diving trip and ate quick-energy foods like muesli bars and bananas and I'm still recovering... has anyone else had this happen?
Also now, however, I've got absolutely no energy.  Terrible, brain-sapping fatigue that I've never experienced before.  No zest for life whatsoever.  In addition, I'm finding any cuts and scrapes I have take a long while to heal and tend to get infected much more than before.
I'm taking 2g Vitamin C and 2g fish oil daily, and also on anti-depressants. I wonder if the lack of sugar has started righting my system and that the anti-depressants are not now needed, and I'm sort of OD'ing on them, and throwing my system out of alignment?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

The only time I've only ever felt tired and sluggish or no energy and just over all bleh, is mainly when i'm eating processed foods or carby type foods.  A while ago, I was getting a bit lazy, it was a very busy time, I was eating carbs and got lazy cooking and ate some processed foods.  I felt so run down even though I was taking all my vitamins (I take a general adult multi, B group, fish oil and a powered vitamin C), plus I was having sinus problems which didn't help at all!  I'm back to eating no carbs during the day, eggs for breaky, fruit for morning tea, salads for lunch and yoghurt for afternoon tea and I feel much better and I'm sleeping better.  Probably not much help sorry, but maybe try cutting down on some carbs and upping your protein.  I know that when you do cut down or cut out on carbs you can have a withdrawal process, because carbs are easy energy so the body doesn't need to work as much, but when you start eating protein the body needs to work more in order to get energy out of it.  Sounds like it could be something like that especially if you have had some high energy foods.

Liz, hi, how strong are your anti-depressants? My Doc put me on a very low dose one to help me sleep, and they worked, (I sleep in my armchair, as my arthritis is so painful in my right hip), plus I was very stressed. I took them for about 3 weeks, and was sleeping very well, but I always felt like it was hard waking up, and was feeling lethargic....So now I only take them on those days I don't have to get up too early, and can sleep in a bit, (I'm retired). I never take them on the Friday night before I have to get up at 4am to get ready to go to markets, as I would never be able to function properly.
Maybe it's time to go back to your Doc & discuss going on a lower dose, or maybe weaning yourself off them. Depends on why you were on them in the first place, I guess.

Congrats on losing that 10 kilos, BTW, isn't it great? I've been on this since last Sept, (2010) and lost 17 kilos. That was good advice from Janelle, too.......
Good luck with it all, cheers, Liz.

Where are your proteins? Little protein in the diet will make you feel crappy. You are not sick because of lack of sugar, it's not like it's a food group. Is there anything else going on in your life which could contribute to this feeling of unwellness? Sometimes if we are mentally drained our body ends up taking a battering.
