As I am writing this I am coaching myself as well as hoping to build support for you and and others. Even though I have had a lot of success losing 50kg over time, I wanted to say to you, I am also going through a hard time at the moment, I was fully fit going to gym and then received some back and ankle injuries that have caused some downward spiral in my self care. I wanted to say that we should not insult our own intelligence as women to give in too something so shallow as sugar and comfort food. We basically all know what is good and bad to eat, it is more why are we letting ourselves down by believing that these unnatural foods will make us feel better, when as David pointed out in his book, we are not helping ourselves but poisoning ourselves. This is the mind set we have to create for ourselves. It is never about the food, but why we seek to comfort ourselves. We all know that sugar, chocolate, cakes, biscuits are so nice, but what we forget is that we are so superior to these shallow foods. Our bodies, our happy face and our loving hearts are the best invention given to us, but like most things in society today, the basics of life are forgotten and taken for granted. If you practice self care everyday, believing in what you are achieving for yourself. It doesn't matter what opinions others have of anything, you have the right and the privilege to absorb or discard what ever suits your mind and body. It is trial and error all the time. That is how you find your internal strengths and weaknesses, but helping to poison yourself along the way slows the process....one step forward and two steps back. Please don't underestimate how important and special you are, how you started in life and what and how you would like to create your path through life, this is what you would like to focus on, not so much that everything around you is going bad, or this person did this or that...we can only change our attitude towards what is happening. The bad things have already happened, so we can't change that, only that we then have a different path to navigate so that is our focus. The food we eat is our natural medicine, it directs our mind/body......and that is all we have to know. Eat natural basic food, like they did in the old days. An apple is an apple, not a packet of a specially concocted 2011 space apple food. Saturated Fat is fat, we all know what fat does. No matter how good they make a cake look in the bakery, it is fat and sugar disguised that is the simple truth. When we feed our bodies what it actually craves and requires naturally, it will respond accordingly. Thats it!!! Today in society, they perform plastic surgery on just about everything, food...people...cars...our environment....education....even the fitness world. Nothing is left in a natural state. Where walking was and is such a simple thing and we did it for centuries, we are being told now to buy expensive gym clothing and pay fees and do this and that. It is all so unneccessary. What I have discovered over the last 15 years is.....keep everything as basic and simple and natural as life and food was meant to be, and this holds your mind/attitude/body in check and balanced. What ever else happens around you is exactly that, so........that is how we should approach hurdles. I too like most mothers have had to deal with situations overtime.....kids....divorce...deaths etc like most people. So I have worked out that sugar and fat does not help at all to fix these situations, I fix the situation with what I need to process and what I don't need to process.......that is all. Then you are doing the job that your mind and body were created for in the first place. You are so special you only have to help yourself discover it first and then you won't even think about a cake or biscuit. Have a lovely day for yourself. I am so interested in nutrition and the food we eat daily, but if I could pass anything on it would be listen TO THE MESSAGES FROM YOUR BODY it tells you daily what it just had doesn't agree or when you are really hungry not comfort eating. Give your body the break it deserves and don't overwork it like a broken down horse. Our stomach is only as big as our fist, so we don't need this huge Australian bk/lunch/dinner plate. Plastic surgery on anything can make things look so beautiful, this is what society has done to our natural food, they gloss it over and spruce it up so it is so tempting. We then forget what we are eating, because it doesn't look its natural self anymore. It is like the husband selling his loyal and loving wife out for a 25yr plastic version who really can't organise anything in life, and poisons relationships along the way. That is what we have forgotten about our food. We can have so much of the good healthy food, but we have been programmed to want plastic versions. Anyone who is interested in responding would love to hear from you....these sites are so important to share and give support. (And no my ex didn't leave me for a plastic version, that is just how I see fancy fat and sugar food of today. It all looks so nice definitely, but it is not doing us any good when it starts to backfire on our bodies full of ailments.) I am happily married again with a great husband and life is good because I just keep trying my best......that is all you can do!!!!!

Sometimes I say (especially to my children) "If you won't eat it in this form (holds up something plastic), why on earth would you eat it in this form?'' (holds up something artificial). :)
