How Much Sugar?

13 days in, 4 kilos dropped off

Took two days to get serious and chuck all sugar out. Now only salted cashews in the pantry at eye level...had one BADLY craving day on the weekend the day after having some cake a friend made. Managed the craving the next day with a diet coke - which worked.

Got GENUINELY hungry today mid morning, had a piece of toast with vegemite (new concept - actual food when actually hungry). The last two days the cravings were less intense, so just using a cuppa tea to distract.

Goodness, this is so simple I am embarrassed I didnt realise.

I'm with you  - this is just a beautifully simple solution to my weight problem.  I'm losing about a kilo a month, even over Christmas, and it's really easy now.  I didn't have atough time with withdrawal in the beginning, which was lucky for me I guess.  Now I just eat  less than I used to and I don't miss it! Just three meals a day and snacks are a rare thing.  I had lost 10 kg before I gave up fructose, then plateaued for a year, now have lost another 7 and am almost there.  But this is a way of life now!

I only wish I could convert others, haven't had much luck with that yet. But one good friend is doing well.

    Well done!

Well done, Tracey and Sandra. And welcome to the forum. I was much the same when I started. I lost 19 kilos over 13 months, now I have plateaued, and still with another 20 kilos to lose.
I am re-assessing my portion sizes, and find they have crept up, so am now looking at all my food again and only eating when hungry, to get me started again.
    So, second phase for me.

Keep it up, ladies, it feels so good to be 18 kilos down, (I put 1 k back on)....I am wearing clothes I haven't worn for a few years, and feeling thrilled to see my leaner view in the mirror!

    Kind regards

Great news for all of you:)  I have not had a chance to jump on the forum over christmas but your stories have reminded me that sharing on this site is what kept me going in the first place:)

I started in November and I am now down 5 kilos..  I would like to lose another 8-10 but I will see where my body decides to pull up stumps:)..

I agree wholeheartedly... I love the simple nature of this plan and its has been working for me so well that I don;t think about it anymore.. there is no sugar in the house to tempt me in the first place so I find it easy to get on with it..  and I have now found that I no longer like the taste or after effects of drinking pepsi max.. its now far to sweet and disrupts my plumbing painfully, so now stick to David 2 preferred choices of water or milk.. works for me..

I did have a small relapse at christmas when I was not in my own home and had family members pushing dessert in my face constantly.. I gave in twice.. but paid dearly for it with headaches & cravings for following 2 days, so again learned from that one..  and have also learned that I can;t worry about offending anyone else with my choices... if they don;t like it, they have to deal with it not me:)..

Best wishes for 2012 everyone!! x

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year to all

Try eating 5 smaller meals per day never let yourself get hungry and always try to eat a small amount of protein each meal. Make your last meal of the day the smallest and I always keep good nuts on hand I love almonds eat a few if you get hungry it always works for me and they are really healthy for you I often use these if i get the munchies at night just a couple takes the hunger pangs away.

I always eat boiled eggs each day so filling and easy protein and they are good for you.

Also google virgin coconut oil not the badie we have all been lead to believe by big corporations. These sites will explain the difference between coconut oil and other oils and why it is so good for you.

I have switched over completely and use nothing else except virgin olive oil on salads. I even use it as a moisterizer adding a few laverder drops.

And never use margarine it starts out as plastic then the companies add all the chemicals and colourings to make it look good. All those adverts on TV are designed to make you think it is healthy but I bet they don't use it for their families. Use butter only good animal fat is also not a real badie. Please do some research of your own on margarine and oils. Please don't be fooled by the canola oil they add to make it soft, they also use it in butter for that reason.

    Good Luck all

    Deborah

Good points Deborah about the Pepsi Max.  I have adore Diet Coke but I cant manage to give that up yet.  Only a week into the Sugar Free lifestyle.  But have managed to cut down alot.  Dont have it in the house any more and just keep a few cans at work.  Will allow myself one can a day and have it only at work.  Then eventually I want to give it up completely.  I still love that hit it gives me.  Sad isnt it.

Oh I am impressed and you have made me try even harder.  I too have not been all that serious but this morning tried on the dress I am wearing to my daughter's wedding in early July - yes, that too made me realize that this is not a joke.  I'll let you know how I go.  Craving are not the problem I thought they would be.
