    Hi there

As embarrasing as this is I feel I need to discuss it on here. I am severely constipated since I started this fructose reduction.

I believe David when he says that you don't feel like eating. If I have breakfast and then have a sausage roll at morning tea. I don't feel like eating again till tea time.

The thing is i"m so full right now but I thinik it's partly constipation. Has any one else experienced this?

It could be that I'm not eating enough veggies. What do you think?

    Hi Gwendoline

I am no expert on the "no sugar" diet but a couple of suggestions are (1) are you drinking enough water/fluids? (2) more leafy veges would probably help (3) if you talk to a pharmacist, there are plenty of fibre based powders (like bran, psylium etc) that you can just stir into /sprinkle over your food.  My Mum is a diabetic so I know she wouldn't drink sugar based powders, and she finds these fibre based powders very effective.

In short - talk to your pharmacy staff.

    Hope this helps.

Gwen - I quickly found that 'morning tea' and 'afternoon tea' were concepts that didn't fit with my new stomach capacity, I often eat breakfast and dinner, because I just am not hungry and I am lost in my work and realise that lunchtime has flown by.  I do agree with the other comment - if you have problems being regular, a fibre based laxative might help, but in the first instance, I'd look at what you're eating, make sure there's lots of veggies, and lots of fluids.  You need lots of water while detoxing anyhow

Thank you both of you for your replies

Strangely enough I seem to have come right. I think my body was just adjusting to the new way of eating

I am really enjoying not being hungry all the time

    Kind regards Gwendoline

Yes, not being hungry is a great feeling.  I'm in Texas right now, and my friends here can't believe I don't want to try every new ice cream flavour.  The bit no-one gets, is that it's not a force of will, I'm just amused when they try to 'tempt' me.  Before, if they'd bought it, even if I'd been trying, I'd have eaten it.  I also found out today that from having worn a size 38 jean, I fit in to a size 33.  :-)

Hi I have been sugar free now for nearly six weeks and I am having problems, when I use to go 2 or 3 times a day in fact if I ate chocolate I was really bad. I am trying hard to eat plenty of vegies and the fruit a couple of pieces a day that is high in fibre, so im thinkling I will have to try something else too.

    Hello Shevatin
most of us are happy to go once a day. But, if you found that chocolate made you go ...............

I have bought some organic cocoa ............they call it Cacao, you can get it in Health food shops. I have it unsweetened in hot milk during the afternoon when I need a seratonin lift. If it is the chocolate only that helps, why not give it a try.

I find that having fish oil helps, by the way.

    cheers

I read a book in the past day that said that anything from 3 times a day to once every three days is 'normal'.  So, I would think if you are eating well, and you have an ongoing issue that falls outside those bounds, or that concerns you, perhaps you do need to speak to a doctor.

    Hello Shevagn

I seem to be going about twice a week now and that seems to be enough. I wasn't going at all for weeks as I shared in the first post.

I really think the body was  adjusting to the new way of living.

I took colloxyl with senna once  week when I couldn't go but now my body just seems to have corrected itself.

I think it's good to have a fair amount of fibre in your breakfast. I have amaranth and oatbran in my breakfast cereal.

    Kind regards gwendoline
