For interesting reading google 'Dr Leila Alice Denmark' 1898-2012. Leila Denmark attributed her longevity to drinking only water, eating no refined sugars and including a protein and 2 vegetables with every meal. She consumed no refined sugar for 70 years!!! Worked as a pediatrician until age 103 yrs, died at 114 yrs.

*grin* I don't doubt that dropping your sugar will increase your lifespan, but, I've read people who lived to a long age who attribute it to smoking once a day.  What she thinks made her live long, is not necessarily true, and genetics would play a huge role in that.

I agree with her advice, but I don't expect to live to 110 through following it :-)
