OK, so I am in the US right now, for work.  Three weeks, most of it eating out.  We went to Cheesecake Factory, and I decided to have a dessert ( I had decided to allow myself two while I am here, which is an increase, at home I have dessert once a month, when I take my wife out for dinner, and we share it, I used to get her to order something I liked and I'd eat 1 1/2 ).  Anyhow, the point is, I intended from the start to only have a couple of bites, but, I actually found it so sweet that, while I like the taste of mango ( which it was ), I found the whole thing quite over powering.  So, it was a valuable object lesson, I'm not feeling inclined to consider 'allowing' myself the odd 'treat', because it really wasn't that great, after all.

American coffee is filthy though, it's a blend designed to be mixed with sugar syrups, and although I love coffee without sugar at home, I can't drink it without some dextrose ( which I preordered from Amazon ).  Sadly, I can't take it with me as I travel around the country, I don't feel like spending an hour explaining to a US airport employee with a gun why I am carrying a bag of white powder.

It's amazing isn't it?  A while ago I went to a conference with my husband, where there were big dinners every night and the dessert would just appear in  front of you whether you wanted it or not. So I tried some on two occasions, and I just didn't like them after all - made me feel overfull in just two mouthfuls.  So now it's pretty easy to go without dessert!  I make some of the dextrose recipes to keep my family happy on special occasions and I can eat those but only in moderation.  The thought of a whole slice of cheesecake makes me gag.

I know !! I was pressured in to tiramisu last night ( something I've loved ).  I said I'd take half, and I ate half of that.  I AM in the USA, the land of huge serves, but still, for me to leave any dessert behind, was unheard of.
