    Hi everyone,
I have gone into this no sugar life with gusto and am having no ill effects, no cravings etc etc. I have been sugar free for three weeks and I am waiting for the weight to start falling off!
All the other diets I have been on over the years people have said to me, "and the weight just falls off" this has never happened for me. In fact quite the opposite, the weight just piled on!
However this sugar free life makes more sense to me and when David said "the weight just fall off" in his book I actually believed it. Maybe this time the weight will just start to fall off, to date, nothing :-(
Please has anyone got a nice little time frame they can share with me.

    Hello Natalie and welcome
it's different for everyone and some do find the weight does fall off, I didn't, like you, I found that it takes time for anything to change, but did feel far better in myself for not eating sugar.
I have been sugar free for eighteen months now and things happened very slowly for me. I have finally lost 15kilos in this time and have lost all cravings for sweet things. My appetite control took at least 6 months to finally make itself felt and even now, I can overeat.
You will get entirely different replies from others.
    Hope this helps
Do keep it up and congratulations for having achieved three weeks.
    cheers

Hi Freda and thank you for your very quick response
I feel that phrase is used extensively and it really drives me nuts. Nothing ever happens quickly for me so I was pleased to hear how things are going for someone else.
I am looking forward to when I can say I have lost 15kgs that is for sure, so congratulations to you.
    sincerely
    Nat

    Hello,

I have been sugar free for about 3 months now. I have noticed my clothes are looser, but when I measure myself there seems to be no difference.  I do feel much healthier in myself, but after a life time of weighing myself I don't want to go there yet.  It is working slowly but surely.

    Hi Nat

I'm 4 weeks into being sugar free, an I've only lost a kilo and that goes up an down as well, but all ways ends up back down so guess I'm maintaining it, and I'm eating food I enjoy an not feeling at all deprived about it. I agree everyone has a different journey you can't compare your weight loss with others. So enjoy the non diet way of life.

    Hello Jeanette and Debra
I am very grateful you have both replied. I understand everyone is different and you can't compare "journeys" I was just interested in how other people are going weight wise.
I am starting to notice my watch getting looser and I seem to be getting my neck back, which is great. I am also enjoying not being on a diet.
I am a cook on a station in far north WA and have to cook slices, cakes, biscuits and deserts all in a days work. I am not even tempted by them and it is up to the people who eat them to tell me if they taste ok. No complaints yet.
It is also amazing to watch two of the workers sitting at night (literally under the stars) sucking on rum and coke, coke and more coke, this is after a day of 50/50 cordial and water huge quantities of tomato and BBQ sauces, sweets, biscuits, and there own lollies and general rubbish then say,
" I don't know what I ate, but I am feeling a bit crook in the guts."

    Hi Nat, and others

I am on medication that makes it very difficult for me to lose weight, and I have to be on it for 5 years (4 down, one to go). I really didn't expect to lose weight when I decided to go sugar-free, but wanted to do it for the other benefits. Nevertheless I have lost 4 kg 3 months, without any effort. I don't feel as hungry, although I can still overeat at times (wish I didn't!). I had a piece of my daughter's sugary birthday cake last week and woke the next day feeling like I'd had a big night (yucky taste in my mouth, headache, no energy) so sweet things are rapidly losing their appeal. Yes, everyone's journey is different, but I think we are all reaping the benefits, albeit at different rates!

    Hi Jackie

It is interesting hearing other peoples experiences. I finally had a relapse and had some sugary food the other night, my logic was, "I haven't had sugar for so long I will treat myself." It was yummy enough but I too woke up with a hangover! I haven't drunk alcohol for a while now so really had to rack my brain as to why I felt so bad.  AAhhhhh the sugar. Well that seems to be it so I plan on no more treats for me.

It is funny actually I feel like I should be preaching to the unconverted, shouting from rooftops etc. In fact I tried but people seem to say "Oh but I don't have much sugar at all," as they sit coffee in hand, two sugars and cake. We really have been brainwashed into thinking all of these additives are ok and there will not be any health related effects.

Haven't heard anything from David Gillespie on this site, does he ever add anything? I was sort of expecting some worldly extra advice for the payment I made, I already owned the books.

    Hi Natalie
David doesn't add anything to this website, but he does talk a  lot on the Sweet Poison Facebook page and will answer questions quite quickly.

Yes, I agree, one can't preach to anyone.

My daughter and her husband, both overweight and extremely high sugar consumers tease me constantly about my "diet" and are expecting me to fall off the wagon any time now. They joined us on our holiday for four days in Avignon, France and seemed to eat sugary treats almost non stop and also seemed to be constantly hungry.

I don't have any cravings for sugar now, at all. I watched with interest as they filled themselves with cakes, deserts and ice creams. I haven't said a thing to them during the four days, or criticized their sugar consumption at all.

But I did tell them when I first went off sugar all that time ago and started to feel so good.

But they have constantly mentioned my savory. eating and even gone so far as to wave sugar cubes in front of me and make jokes about how I must be longing for sugar.

It's been quite an amusing time really, I thought I would argue and preach at them but can't bring myself to do so, as only two years ago, I consumed as much sugar as they do now and had my own weight problem too.

Perhaps they will come to their senses when they are both grossly obese, and drop the sugar.

Who knows, it's their journey, not mine.
And good luck with your own journey............you won't regret making this decision, I haven't!
    cheers
    Freda
