Hi everyone, I am brand new to the forum and to this new lifestyle that I am embarking on to eliminate sugar from my diet. Can someone please confirm that I have got it right so far. Should I be looking for products that have less than 2% total sugars per 100 gms with the exception of yoghurt which is 5 % for 100 gms. So much to learn. I did read Sugar Poison a few years ago and gave the book to a friend, and I have just finished reading that That Sugar Book which has got me very inspired and motivated again. Thanks Liz

Hi Liz, I'm only 10 days in, so no expert. But that all sounds right to me. Good luck!

    Cheers, Gen

    Pretty much spot on. "5% for 100g" is a bit bit confusing. 5% = 5g per 100g.

The reason 5% is OK for yoghurt is that it contains 4.7% lactose-based sugar which metabolizes as glucose and so is OK.  But beware "low fat' yoghurts . .  when they remove the fat the flavour goes with it and is replaced with sugar and salt.

Do keep posting your progress :-0
