Hi team.
My wife and I have been religiously off the fructose for nearly 12 months now since reading Sweet Poison - too easy once you look at sugar laced foods as a detriment to the system. Water, low fat milk, beer, wine and now alcoholic apple cider (not sweet - thanks for that recent tip David) - by the way all alcohol is in moderation - are the only drinks we do. I am a greyhound (65kg) and have been the same weight for the last 25 years regardless of what and how much I eat - so the 'diet' for me is about looking after my body and organs.
Different story for my wife though. She has some extra weight to lose (her wish) and the fructose free system for her has not dropped a kilo, perhaps put a little on in that time. She's healthy, actively works with light walking as daily exercise. I have had my suspicions about the milk we drink. As milk fats are devoid of fructose it should be fine. We generally buy Woolworths or Coles low fat milk and go through it big time (about 1 litre minimum each per day) as it is now a general sugar drink replacement for us. A fellow at work heard David on the radio stating a recent Qld study on low fat milk containing sugar as a replacement for the fat reduction and full cream is better?? I missed the program and would love some more information. Sugar content on the labels of full cream or low fat are similar but obviously there is no break down of the types of sugars. Any ideas? Thanks. Noel
