    Hi all,

I have a million questions but am slowly finding answers.  I'm also sorry if my questions are already on here ... Just a couple I have that maybe someone (if not David) can answer.

    1.  If Sugar makes you fat, how come I have lots of friends who are REALLY skinny who eat tons of sugar?

    2.  If a product (eg John West sardines in Tomato Sauce) lists ingredients as sardines, water, tom paste, salt, vinegar, xanthum gum, and the sugar content is less than 1g per 100g, would that be classed as OK.

    3.  I can't see anywhere in the 'cracker biscuits' where rice cakes are listed.  Are they all OK?

    Cheers,

    Jenny

    Hi Jenny,

As a general rule i stick to products that are less than 2.5grams of sugar per 100grams (<2.5%). I love baked beans which is a little higher so I drain out the sauce so help lower the percentage.

With the rice cakes you can compare the sugar between each brand again by looking at the per 100grams that every nutritional label has - Im pretty sure most plain ones dont have much at all but im always suprised when i assume!

My uncle was a very fit farmer who ate a lot of sugar... and was very skinny. He died aged 40 of a coronary in his bed. No history of heart disease, no warning. Reading Davids book I now think there would be a link eg. fructose increasing fatty acids in his arteries etc. Everyone has different metabolisms, but i think most people who do eat lots of sugar are slowly putting on weight over each year - and we often blame it on middle age spread. Just my thoughts... :)

Good luck with the new fructo-free lifestyle!
