I found Vitarium 100%Natural Sugar free Drinking choc in Woolies.

Tastes good- nearly too sweet for me now so cutting down the amount used.

    Sugar is listed as 0.1%/110g

Ingredients;Natvia (Erithritol, Stevia Reb4), cocoa (10%), emulsifier (soy lecithin), salt

Sounds ok to me for an occasional indulge but I can't remember whether natvia was an acceptable artificial sweetner (and since I have loaned my book I can't check)

    Does anyone have any comments?

Here's an even better one!  Buy a good quality cocoa powder - one with no sugar at all.  Dutch cocoa is nice.  Mix about a teaspoon with a very little milk, then add to a cup or mug of hot milk and sweeten to taste with glucose or dextrose.

    Enjoy!

Hi, Marilyn, I guess it depends on how much it costs. I have Cadbury's cocoa (no sugar) prepared in much the way as Sandra described, but with some full fat cream in!! I also use Natvia as a sweetener in my coffee and in my cocoa. I have my cocoa late, about an hour before bedtime with a piece of cheese, and I sleep like a baby. I have 1 sachet of Natvia in it and find that's sweet enough.

Natvia is Stevia, developed especially  for coffee. Stevia is extracted from a plant, and as long as it's extracted correctly, with no nasty additives, then it's about the best sweetener you can have.  The other one is Xylitol, which is very good for your teeth. It's quite expensive, though, but it's on David's 'your call' list.
If you can, I'd grow a Stevia plant, if you ever get the opportunity, especially if you drink tea, or I guess you can just add it to your drink, one leaf at a time, to get the desired effect.  (!)

It's the latest 'natural' sweetener, no doubt someone will find another plant to replace it in the future.

I use organic cocoa (cos it's prepared a different way, it is stronger and healthier. So you use a less amount, plus it's about the same cost as a 'good quality' supermarket one) and about a quarter teaspoon of dextrose, in hot raw milk. Drool! (the raw milk is really creamy)
