ok so no sugar in the ingredients - high-oleic peanuts, vegetabile oil, stabiliser, etc but in the sugar section it says 5.5g per 100g doesn't that mean you can't have it?

    Im so confused!

The sugar will be from the peanuts, it will contain a small amount of fructose but it will be minor.

The other rule of thumb is no more than 10 g of sugar a day.  So, 5.5g per 100g when you put 50 g on your toast, is also not the end of the world.

If you have to have peanut paste the best one would be Sanitarium Natural Peanut Paste.  100% roasted peanuts, available Woolies in health food section http://www.sanitarium.com.au/products/spreads/peanut-butter/natural-crunchy

I buy my peanut butter from my local fruit and veg shop. they have their own peanut butter making machine they just pop the unsalted, dry roasted nuts in the top and jar at the bottom and out comes lovely crunchy peanut butter (you can have it smooth, semi crunchy or super crunchy the way I like it.)

This is also a much cheaper option as my 500g recyled jar only cost me $2.80 to get filled.

    Bev :)

If anyone in Adelaide wants to buy fresh peanut butter, I get mine at Goodies and Grains at the Adelaide Central Market.  It's cheap too.

Of course if I had a Thermomix I could make my own... or any heavy duty food processor. Has anyone tried?
