60 Minutes US did a sugar story recently, and instead of playing it, the Aussie 60 Minutes rolled their own story last night.  It was not very good, for example, they mention that sugar is 'worse than cocaine' but didn't explain what they meant, which drew a lot of ire in the online discussion.  But it was interesting to see that there's more and more sources for this information, it's not like every anti sugar story is an ad for 'Sweet Poison' ( not that this would be a bad thing ).

I saw that too last night on 60 Minutes.  I was disappointed that there was no "in depth" information about why sugar is bad for you.  They weren't very convincing at all.  And then there was the lady who was going sugar free after suffering from being overweight for so long, and her children were pouring tomato sauce over their dinner and saying how chocolate was their favourite treat!  I think 60 Minutes unfortunately missed the point.

The chocolate part was about how they get treats rarely.  Yes, I did think that that woman meant well, and was trying hard based on what she knows, but was not exactly the best possible advocate for a sugar free lifestyle.  I almost felt like 60 Minutes set the story up to fail, so people feel like they've heard the sugar free story and found it lacking.

    Also just found this:

    http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8481733

Highlights include 'fructose is not the problem, all sugar is' and 'natural sugars are OK, it's the processed ones that are the problem'.  *sigh*
