Hi Anne, I had the same problem with the after dinner sweet! I used to have a great stash of chocolate cake etc in the freezer for those occasions, or 85% chocolate in the freezer, but my fav used to be whipped cream and strawberries.  The further you get into the journey the easier it will be and you will loose all those sweet cravings.  My after dinner sweet ended up becomming a habit rather then a want or craving.  I just made a conscious effort one day to not make anything and I didn't even miss it, it was just out of habit then it was actually enjoyment.  Also try not to over eat, I've found that when I overeat especially with dinner and a sweet I get really sick.

Anne, I would just try to have meat/chicken/fish (steamed) with stir fried veg, or they may even steam the veg for you, you can only ask!!!  Also ask for no added dressings, say you are allergic to them, as you know a lot of those lovely sauces have lots of sugar (and soy) in them.
That's if you eat out in a restaurant. All you can really do is ask the question, can I have plain food, with no sauces.  Never been there myself, so don't know how hard this will be. Try to have brown rice if they have it as white rice is brown rice with all the thiamine stripped off it in the polishing process.

Have a lovely holiday, if you can't do the things I have suggested, (and maybe someone else has been there & may be able to give you more advice), just don't stress over it, just try not to overeat, and get back on the programme when you get back.

Have a great holiday, and check your bags for drugs hehe....oooops, sorry, well, you never know!!

I jest of course, but still.......

Thanks for your comments Sylvia & Janelle,

The only drugs they will find on me will be the panadol, lipitor, blood pressure stuff, diabetes stuff he he!  only joking as well.  Don't really take much.  Even given up the fags!!  Love my champers, wine & bundy but alas, can't drink much of that either, however, I will soldier on!!
I was looking through the diets i've been on and actually there are heaps of non-sugar recipes among them, even a couple of desserts.  Will give them a go a some stage.
I hope I don't go off the bandwagon when i'm away, will try my best, don't relish the thought of going thru all these side effects again.
    Thanks again for your suggestions.

Hi anne, ditch the bread and replace it with protein :) I used to be the same, always hungry unless I ate wheat. But once I started on protein for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I haven't even craved wheat or needed it. It's been fabulous!

    Hi Anne
Go on your holiday and enjoy it watch what you eat but don't do your head in over it
Great to hear you are using STEVIA stay off bread pasta white rice and not too much brown potatoes are fine it is what you put on it that is the problem so eat your potatoes in moderation and enjoy them.
Start to cook in virgin cold pressed coconut oil, please google this product it is not the badie we have been lead to believe. It is very healthy and has  many uses I make my own toothpaste I am happy to give my recipe, moisturizer  body and face use sparingly on face other wise too oily, bath oil (beautiful) coconut oil is very healthy for us and guilt free to cook in even deep frying the make up of coconut oil is different than any other oil, and this is why it is OK to use even though it is a saturated fat NOT FATTENING We have been conditioned to believe it is buy massive advertising campaigns
by manufacturers of other oils eg:  canola oil, veg oil etc. Don't use these. The only other oil you should use is olive oil only virgin cold pressed and don't cook in it, just use coconut oil for cooking.
Don't use margarine this is poison and creates all sorts of health problems even though we are led to believe otherwise.
Eat loads of fresh vegetables particularly green leafy the darker the better lots of color as well like capsicum sprinkle seeds on your salad like pine nuts, pepitas (pumpkin seeds) sunflower seeds, just a sprinkling.
Eat some fruit each day a wide variety, eat eggs freerange are best. and always carry chopped veg sticks with you when you go out so you don't snack on bad stuff.
Almonds are great appetite suppresses. just chew on a couple if you suffer from hunger pangs eg. 2 or 3 in the afternoon and before you go to bed or after dinner if I get hungry I chew on a couple of almonds then and it always does the trick for me.
    Small amounts of meat.
    Hope this helps.

It's all a bit strange at first, I ate heaps of bread at first, as I was so hungry, but after a few weeks, my appetite control started to slowly kick in, and I stopped eating so much bread, and haven't looked back. I've had a few hiccups along the way, but just tweaking what you eat will fix that. I had to cut back a lot on pasta, bread & potatoes, and a little on rice, (I changed to brown rice & pasta).

Add some walking to tighten up your tum, and to help get rid of that belly fat. I've still got another 17 kilos to go, so here's hoping my financial situation gets better so I can go high protein again, yippeee more chicken/steak.  I miss steak, cry! Oh, drat!! I just remembered I can't eat steak any more 'cos of the no teth thing!!  so sad,......

    Hi Anne
I am 57 and have left a comment for you and hopefully some of my ideas may help you loose some weight.
I think you should check a few other things that may be going on in your body. Eg. Thyroid, hormones
Please get a book by Dr John Lee "What doctors don't tell you about menopause"
and "What Doctors Don't tell you about cancer" these books are a wealth of information for women our age, he talks about a hormone called PROGESTERONE he explains in easy language all about our hormones, thyroid, adrenals, and how when these things are out of whack how we gain weight and just make us feel awful.
Another book is Elaine Hollingsworth "Take control of your life an escape the sickness industry"
    a real eye opener.
Also I have a daughter aged 36 with Poly cystic Ovarian Disease and I have bought Dr J Lee's book
What doctors don't tell you about perimenopause age 30 to 50 only just received that she is reading it now, but I'm sure it will help her.

    Hope my info helps you

    Good Luck

Hello Deborah, I'm assuming you have read David's books?
In the "Quit plan" he advices caution with Stevia, it comes under the "your call" list with all the other artificial sweeteners. He talks further about it on page 179.
Personally, I wouldn't use any artificial sweeteners, even though "natural" and "plant based". After all, sugar is "natural" and "plant based" too.
I am a mainly savory eater and if I eat a desert, which is rare, I will bake one of David's recipes from the Sweet Poison quit plan. By the way, there's an ice cream recipe or two in there too.
    cheers
    Freda

Deb, I think you should know that I have an ongoing love/hate affair with coffee!! I have been doing this now for 15 months now and lost 19 kilos. May I suggest you read a lot more of the posts in  both forums.  The only time I uses sweeteners is in coffee, & I use Natvia, when I can afford it. Recently I made myself not drink any coffee for around 10 days, Didn't help much. As soon as I had one, I was hooked all over again. So now am trying hard to limit myself to the black tea!! Things like Stevia are all ok if you're not an old age pensioner stuck with a large rent & no way of fixing the situation ATM.
Have you read the thread about Leptin re-set, in the Sweet Poison forum? Lots more info there for you.

    Regards
    Sylvia

    Hi all you lovely people,

I came back from my holiday in Malaysia fully loaded with sugar!!  I lasted about 2 days.  If anyone has been to Malaysia they will know what I'm talking about, there is sugar in just about all their food.  Even their coffee has sugar already added.  Anyways, what I'm saying is that I'm still fat (around 84kg 173cm) and need to lose around 15kg or so.  I am going through the "what diet to choose" bit again.  One day its WW, Leptin, next is fructose free etc.  Every Monday I start again, but it only lasts till around Wednesday.  I am really confused about what is really best for us.  On WW it really cuts down on the fats and a lot of people seem to swear by this diet.  It also has the "tick of approval" from many sites as the best one to choose.  What I want is a diet plan for life.  Is that FF, I don't know.
Does FF really work, and are people healthy on this regime??
I will start again on FF if I think this is the answer.
What are your thoughts.  Thanks.  Anne
