Yes, I think it is the answer, but think of it as a life style change, not a diet.  It is simple to follow, only one rule, no sugar.

I and a couple of others have gone one step further, and have cut out most carbohydrates (only get them from veges and nuts/seeds), have cut out all grains, and am trying to follow Paleo lifestyle. I eat full fat everything.  Cook mostly in coconut oil (sometimes beef dripping, butter or lard), eat heaps of eggs and protein.  If you have a high protein/fat breakfast, it will keep you from feeling hungry until lunch time, sometimes I don't even feel like lunch.

I didn't start fructose free to lose weight (but a couple of kilos off is nice), but for the health aspect, I truly believe too much sugar/fructose is the cause of a lot of health problems.  If you go to Marks Daily Apple and read some of the Success Stories you will be amazed.  Be sure to have a look around the website, as there is some good info there.

Well said, Suzanne. Anne, I tried WW years ago, lost 17 pounds then, but gradually put it back on. they may limit the sugar, but don't tell you about fructose. Have you read David's  books? If so, you will have read why it's such an amazing lifestyle change. The only question in your mind should be, shall I do it cold turkey, or should I do it gradually. I think you should make a decision to give it a good go cold turkey. But shop for it first, and make a start date. Write it all down , even if it's only on a calendar. Buy lots of protein, as Suzanne said, eggs, lean meat, ie beef and lamb, chicken and eggs. and nuts, almonds are good, and some organic cocoa, or cacao. Makes a great treat.  Buy some Dextrose Powder (Big W, home brew section)and some Rice Malt syrup (Coles, health food aisle) for baking, the syrup you can have on your fruit free Muesli (try Macro, Woollies), too. Don't go with the deli meats, they are classed as processed foods, try to eat 'clean' it means no processed foods, except maybe hard cheddar cheese, make all your dairy full fat, but limit it a bit, as it does all have calories. And buy lots of veggies, I do keep a couple of bags  of frozen Winter veg (Aldi) in the freezer for those times when the fresh ones may run low. Whole grains are ok, but do limit the simple carbs, there is a bread recipe (Flax & something, can't remember) on Mark's Daily Apple that you can bake to have instead of the horrible processed breads thrust at us at every turn.
My tip, bake stuff & freeze, buy veg, when cheap, blanch in boiling water, then freeze. My other tip, keep a food diary, writing stuff down makes it all real, and more likely to turn into reality.

Sarah Wilson's Blog will also give you lots of other healthy eating options, both from her and her forum posters.
Sarah just did a really good article on sunscreens, if anyone is interested, which then goes off onto the tack of what chemicals we put on our skins & etc. Very interesting stuff.

Anne, if you care what you put into your body, follow these 2 sites, plus David's 2 forums, this one & the Sweet Poison one, and you won't go far wrong.
Lots of lovely helpful people on both sites, just waiting to give you encouragement and help, even if you just want to vent, we understand, we've (most of us) been there!! I know I have.
I lost 19 kilos in about 15 months, so I'm very happy, except that I need to lose another 20 odd!!

I wish you well, Anne, don't give up. Make that decision in your head, and go shopping, don't walk, run!!
And keep us up to date on your progress.

    Bye

I can't thank you enough, all of you lovely people :)
Well, I have done it, have been sugar free for about 5 days now.  Haven't had the headaches etc yet, like i had last time. I'm still wanting sugar tho so maybe detoxifying is still to come!
Still in the looking around in the fridge and cupboards for food stage but not really that hungry.  Eating lots of nuts.
I've had a bit of a look at the sites you guys have mentioned, heaps of info there.  Wish i had more time on my hands to "surf".  Even tho i'm old, i'm still working 3 days a week (a nurse, but mainly in management now so sitting at a computer most of the time)
However, have started in the gym again, but slowly does it as i've had fibromyalgia for many years, if i do too much, i suffer.
Looking forward to trying a few of the recipes in Sarah's blog, tho i won't try for at least one month yet.  The cheesecake looks divine.  I note that she sometimes uses maple syrup and honey in her recipes.  I would have thought these were a definite no-no.
Sylvia, i have read both of David's books quite some time ago.  I will probably now start to read them all over again as, today, my husband seems to have left my beloved Kindle reader at the shopping centre.  Gone!!!  I am distraught.  I took it everywhere, read it on the train, at lunch time, at weekends.  It was a bit like his beloved remote, part of me.  OMG what am i gonna do now!!
Lots of love to you all
    Anne

    Hi Anne,

Yes, maple syrup and honey and honey are a no no, but you can substitute with rice malt syrup, available at Coles in their health foods section.  Just remember, it has as many calories as honey, but no fructose.  Some sites are only aiming for no sugar, and think that natural sugars like honey is ok, but David is saying no fructose, which includes no sugar.

Anne, so sorry you lost your Kindle, I saved up for a year to buy me a new mobile phone, had been waiting for about 3 years for Nokia to bring out the lovely slim & sleek Nokia fold. Well I treated myself for Xmas 2010, around the time I started on Sweet Poison, But it slipped out of my jacket pocket, as I put it in the car after a walk with my partner, over at the lovely park at Kurnell. I got all the way home, (20 minute ride) before looking for it & realised it was gone.

I was so upset, I almost cried, I can't afford another one, so had to ring up Optus and they cancelled my SIM, I had to buy a new SIM card, Optus transferred all my outstanding money over to my old phone. I am still bereft, I really loved my little shiny sleek Nokia Fold, boohoo.....My old phone keeps running out of charge, which is why I wanted to get a new one.!!

So, not quite the same, but it did have a camera, now I have none!

My sympathies to you, I feel your pain, girl....

    Love

So sorry for you ladies losing such good things.
Sylvia, you can buy a new battery for your old phone and it won't run out of charge. Not that this is any comfort to you.
    cheers

Thanks, Freda, I know I can buy a new battery, but not sure if they still do a battery for my very old phone, but, really, am hanging out for another new one. If it's meant to be, well........I do only use it as an emergency thing, mainly.

But, yes, still pining for my lost one. I think it was mainly that I'd waited so long for it that makes me sad....
    sigh..............

    Hi Sylvia
I'm sorry about your phone.  I just have a cheap one from Big W (phone only, no fancy camera's etc).
Cost about $40 or so.  Also have a low cost plan with Telstra.  Not really into phones.
In regard to my Kindle, I have decided that all is not lost!!  I will save up and buy an IPad so i can do my reading, as well as lots of other stuff (i'm not sure what yet).
I'm into my 4th week now FF.  Nothing much has changed for me yet.  Still eating++.  Some days i feel like crap & others are OK.  No weight loss yet.  Ive decided to follow Sarah Wilson's book and cut out fruit, dextrose & other sweet delights until i am sugar free , but i don't think i can cut out bread or crackers just yet.  Sarah says it can take up to two months. I'm drinking lots and lots of tea (with milk) but not really into the herbal teas much (wish i was). Also eating heaps of nuts.  I buy the raw mixed nuts, then coat them in Tamari and roast for about 20 minutes.  Yum.  Eating too many of them.
I make my own wholegrain bread, so i know that's low in sugar.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks i will see a difference.
    Cheers
    from Anne

Anne, I looked up your condition and found this excellent site, here, link :-

    http://www.medicinenet.com/fibromyalgia/page4.htm#6whatis

Yes, I know, you already know all about it, but it did prompt my Angels to get you to read up on it again, and to recommend to you a book, The Body is the Barometer of the Soul, by Annette Noontil.  Here's a link to Amazon to research it, link : -

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0646197215/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

This link is to the page where I found one a heap cheaper, (Plus, cheaper shipping as it's an Aussie site) just click on 'return to product information'  (top left) to go back & see the book itself, and read the reviews. I did one myself!
Read the first few chapters first, before looking up your many ailments (!), to get a sense of the book, then look them up!

It's my favourite book, and I use it weekly, it has helped myself as well as others who have needed help.

I hope you can see your way to buying it, as My Angels are saying that it would help you, may be the first step, but nevertheless, help it will.

    Blessings
    Sylvia xx

    SMILE !!
