Hi Nikki here.  I have been sugar free for 6 days and have maintained by weight (or maybe gotten alittle bigger!)  I'm wondering if i'm doing the right things?  I'm eating alot of full fat products now which is unusually for me so I'm wondering if its all done to the body adjusting to this?  Please help, I know this is good for me but I also find it frustrating.  Thanks everyone

    Nikki

Hi there, I know to start with it's a big adjustment! What I have found with myself, is that I have to listen to my hunger signals. This will become easier over time, your body  will tell you when it's had enough. But you have to ignore the impulse to eat when your not hungry ( I'm a big snacker and this is hard when your watching tv and stuff), but I've found that I'm eating HEAPS less by listening to my body. Lots of luck, don't give up it will happen for you! Luv Kellie

Kellie is so right.  Listen to your body and don't eat at all until you are hungry. I put on weight when I stop doing that.  I do get a full signal, but then I can eat a couple of hours later if I'm motivated (something yummy), but I really don't need to as I can last 4 hours now between meals.

Thanks so much guys, really appreciate you time to help.  I noticed last night that when I was full but by hubby still eating nuts because he likes them not because he was hungry.  I have to break some bad habbits. Definitely going to stick with it.

    Thanks again

    xx

I, like you had more full fat things when I first started sugar free and actually put on a bit (that's hard). I guess it's just substituting one thing for the other. But quite soon really, my cravings started to go and so the amounts of what I was eating started to diminish. The full fat things seem to 'regulate' after a while but it certainly didn't for me at the very beginning.

keep with it and I'm sure you'll feel better. I know I do although I don't seem to have any more energy - I'm waiting for that one to kick in!!

    Hi all
Just new to this for a week or so now.  I am feeling pretty yuk, very dozy, full of aches & pains but I am also very bloated.  Has anyone else experienced this bloating, I haven't seen many people complain of this.  I am in my early sixties also, is anyone else out there this old!!!  I've been on one diet or another for most of my life and I really want this to work so I can just throw away all the other books, tapes, DVD's etc into the bin (I would drink to that!). Is there anyone out there who has had problems with this way of eating??  Thank you

    Hi Anne,

I had a quick search on the free forum and there is others that have experienced bloating.  You haven't had any sugar at all since quitting?  My first thought is that your just going through withdrawals and your body is ridding of all the toxins.  The longer you stick with it the better you feel.  There is also a few lovely lass's that are of your generations floating around so hopefully they'll be able to help you out.

Anne, I don't know if you are using them but often people suffer bloating and other tummy issues with artificial sweeteners.

Anne, yes, I'm older than you and have lost 17 kilos on this way of life. (In 13 months) I have had a little bloating from time to time, Lisa is right, I think I get it more when I have artificial sweeteners. (My Natvia sachets have run out)  cry!

It's all a bit strange at first, I ate heaps of bread at first, as I was so hungry, but after a few weeks, my appetite control started to slowly kick in, and I stopped eating so much bread, and haven't looked back. I've had a few hiccups along the way, but just tweaking what you eat will fix that. I had to cut back a lot on pasta, bread & potatoes, and a little on rice, (I changed to brown rice & pasta).

Add some walking to tighten up your tum, and to help get rid of that belly fat. I've still got another 17 kilos to go, so here's hoping my financial situation gets better so I can go high protein again, yippeee more chicken/steak.  I miss steak, cry! Oh, drat!! I just remembered I can't eat steak any more 'cos of the no teth thing!!  so sad,......

Good luck with it all, Anne, maybe we'll see you on the Sweet Poison forum as well?

Heaps of people our age here to give you support & help.

You can do it, I know it!!

    Hi all

Thank you so much for your replies.  It really helps to have others out there to talk to eh!
I do eat a fair bit of bread (home made), around 2 - 3 slices a day.  I also use Stevia tablets in coffee (nothing in tea).  Maybe too much bread is the culprit but it really fills me up.  I also am having trouble with the after dinner bit.  Last night I had 2 of those little chocolate muffins (in the recipe book) and 2 pieces of 85% dark choc.  Today I feel really off colour, actually feel nauseous.  Won't do that again.  I'll stay off all sugar till i'm over this.  A big problem is, i'm going on hols next week for nearly 3 weeks, to Malaysia (Langkawi & Kota Kinabalu)  Its gonna be hard to know what foods have sugar in them but I will try really hard.  At the moment i have no appetite at all but that usually changes when your on hols!!
Thanks again.  Any of you guys in WA?
