Hi, I have just purchased David's book, and have decided to follow it. I thought Alcohol was the one thing I was having that may be stopping me from losing weight. I do everything right, eat well, plenty of exercise. But wine is my weakness. So is it ok to have wine, I usually have dry white wine,or champagne. I guess champagne is out due to the sugar in it. love the book, and makes sense, and easy to read. I think I have every diet book known. I think I will throw them out now, since finding David's.

Hi Helen, you'll be happy to know wine is ok.  The general rule is if it tastes sweet there is a good chance that there is small traces of fructose in there.  Also I believe David says (in his book I think) to be careful of swapping one habit for another.  Have wine in moderation, 1 glass a day is not going to hurt.

Yes beer's OK too I'm pleased to see. It's mainly the fortified wines and liqueurs that you need to avoid. David also points out that alcohol itself can pose problems other than weight gain. But that's  another issue.
