    Hi Kaye,

    I'm in Christchurch.

I've been on very low carbs for some time (2nd phase Atkins), but after losing 7 kg initially, I started binging on forzen yoghurt with increasing frequency. Now on day 10 of no sugar, feeling ok, but wondering when I will be 'detoxed'. What does David say in the book - 2-3 weeks?

I presume there is more food to be found in Auckland (there is a low carb shop there).

    Where are you?

    Hi Jovankia

I haven't read the books as yet still Waiting!!  So can't really help you with your question...But hey I live just over the hill from you in Christchurch in Akaroa...I am still finding my way around ..have been sugar free for about 8 days but the weight is not really doing anything ..I did lose .6grm but this morning i had gained it all again..grrr but apart from that I do feel better even though I was not much of a sweet tooth before but as I have gathered from reading the info on here it is the hidden sugars that are the problem...I really need to read the books from cover to cover as I am just really guessing at the moment...Good on you for losing the 7kgs that is great ..What sort of yoghut are you bringing back into your meals??

    Hi Kaye,

No more yoghurt - the kind I ate with lots of sugar - all the fruit ones! 12 days sugar free, no weight loss eithere - I am not sure if people who with plus or minus 5 kg will be losing a lot of weight. Also, as I have been on no/low carbs for a while, not sure what to expect.

I hope your book arrives soon as I found it fun and informative, but particularly motivational reading!

I have (had?) a sweet tooth - there is a kind of empowerment in getting rid of the perpetual craving that comes with sugar for me - the more I have, the more I want.

I've been there with addiction with being a smoker of 40 years, now non-smoker for over 4 years!

Lets hang in there, and the weight will probably start to fall, my skin is imporving too!

    Hi Kaye,

Wow, 8 yrs of non-smoking, isn't that just fantastic to think back...

Shedding kilos with this method is slow, but I also notice (from the book) that others report similar stuff - slow on the losing, but feeling more 'compact', light, etc.

I use equal as a sweetener for my coffee, but guess what - it's now starting to taste too sweet, so I 'cut down' to 1/2 the little pill, ha ha...

Hope you sort your leg prblem - or at least clarify where the solution lies on Thu! Living in bueautiful little Akaroa, you do want to get out don't you! If and when dying for something sweet, get some cream and blueberries. Sweeten with equal (the baking stuff).

Remember, all these cravings will get less frequent and less strong... According to book, from 3 weeks to several months (worst case).

    Cheers

Yay! Kiwi's in the house lol.

Hi to everyone. I had the video link sent to me which got me interested. Couldn't find anywhere in Auckland I could buy the book but came across Gary Taubes "Why we get Fat" book on Amazon Kindle store. I'm a bit torn between the two diets and whether I should cut down the carbs as Gary suggests or follow Davids advice. Well any one I started my journey yesterday with a mix of the two.

I'm a big Samoan boy who's sick of being fat. I'm 182cms, 124.5kgs and live in Auckland. I'm so stoked to find this post! Look forward to hearing all the good news and getting to encourage each other through our journey!

    Peace!

Hi - Yes I am from New Zealand.   Was born and breed in Taranaki then when married shifted up here to the Winterless North.   Whangarei - so hopefully I will be able to get David's books.  Got  "Big Fat Lies" and can't put it down.   I am new to this so hopefully it works out.

    Regards

    Hi Claire and other Kiwi's

I am a newby to all this but have been very impressed with Big Fat Lies and Sweet Poison Quit Plan is on order. I originally became interested after reading Jenna's Journey written by Rachel Tomkinson from the South Island-www.betterbods.co.nz- very pro about eating as our grandparents did. Worth  a look as well. I live on the North Shore in Auckland and I am determined to pursue the sugarless way now Easter is over. I would love to hear from anyone who can recommend NZ food altertnatives and ideas.

    Kind regards-Raechel Parrant

Hi everyone in NZ, I am in Rotorua and a new member have been sugar free now for 4 weeks. Saw the Sunday show and thought man that makes a whole heap of sense so after Easter I took the plunge, I am a diabetic and on insulin twice a day and taking metformin 2 tabs twice a day and my blood sugars are now going down in leaps and bounds had a check up today and my nurse was very impressed and now wants to read the book, she isn't sure about the animal fat but has a very open mind. Health reasons were my biggest motivation but I'm losing weight yay because I have about 15kg to lose at 4weeks I have lost 5kgs and feel great I'm not finding it hard and haven't been hungry. My husband is very supportive and as he is the cook in the family he is doing everything sugar free for us. Would love to know if anyone finds foods we can eat in our nz supermarkets. I am really enjoying this site and have loved the books and when people ask me what I'm doing I can't shut up.

    Hi Kaye

I'm from Auckland. I started here about three weeks ago after reading Sweet Poison and The Sweet Poison Quit plan.

I am just eating fairly plain food at the moment. I have lost a couple of kilos in the last three weeks. I don't know how much I lost to begin with because I didn't weigh myself.

It's very easy not to eat much after about 5 weeks on the healthy lifestyle regime.

Actually I think it's six weeks.

I wish you well. I will keep up with the posts so that we can keep in touch.

    Cheers Gwendoline
