    Hi

I’m the cofounder of an organisation called the Sam Project. We started in 2016 when we came to understand the ever increasing incidence of mental illness and that all of the attention and funding is directed towards treatment and next to nothing on prevention. We fund it ourselves as we believe in integrity and do not want to compromise our desire to help all Australians lead the best lives possible,  mentally and physically. A big part of what we provide is education and I’ve heard David speak many times on podcasts and have learned a great deal from him. For us the more we know the better we are at helping people. I’ve joined for two reasons, one is to expand my knowledge and the second is to find my tribe and maybe find some other people who share our concern and want to be part of a group who want to bring about change, real change. We have a system that penalises the individual for buying a product that makes them sick but rewards the companies that manufacture them. Doesn’t make sense to me nor does the idea of passing on this system to our future generations knowing what it will do to them. To quote Desmond Tutu, “ at some stage we need to stop just pulling people out of the river and go back upstream to find out why they fell in”. We know why they are falling in and it’s time we did something about it other than blaming the person for falling in.

I’m excited about the learning and the sharing.
