Hi all
My name is Anna and I am on day 6 of being sugar free. I am not focusing on my weight at present as I have continually failed at diets and after reading David's book I can see why. I have decided to get my appetite under control and then when I am no longer hungry all the time and can eat sensible healthy foods I will contentrate my time on weight loss. The last 6 days have been an education I cannot believe how many food contain the hidden sugars. I realise now that I was never really on a diet just another sugar fix with another sugar by yet another name. I decided not to throw out the sweet stuff at home as we are a large family but have made myself a special shelf with all my sugar free goodies. I no longer go to the pantry but go to the spice/ sugar free cupboard instead.
Over the last 6 days my appetite has decreased and I havent needed to binge either. I even went to work yesterday and walked into a staff room and saw a plate full of cream cakes and didnt touch one, this is a real goal for me. I work in a place that gives people who are in need so there is always a contant supply of goodies. My desk draw is also my sugar free shelf at work.
I have two aims one is to give up sugar and diet without the hunger and feel good and not let down by myself and my need to eat. My second goal is to try and get my Fibromyalgia under control. Fibromyalgia is a form of arthritis that gets worse when your insulin levels are out of whack.
My favourite snack biscuits at the moment are Arnotts Sesame Wheats they have no added sugar and are only 0.3g sugar per 100g, and they taste yum.
I recently had a naturally good Carob Crispbread and am wondering if they are OK. They contain arob (milk solids, vehie oil, carob powder Emulsifiers (soy lecithin, 476, 492) and buckwheat crispbread. They contain 38.2g of sugar per 100g but have no added sugar. Are these OK ?
Cheers from Anna
