    Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself- i've read both of David's awesome books, even bought a copy for my family, and have now joined on here after all the helpful info .
I'm starting this week, should hopefully not have many problems- i already have quite a few health problems related to my gallbladder surgery that gave me serious problems with food and lead to discovering I have Fructose Malabsorbtion. So I have already cut back on fructose a lot and have felt insanely better like I never thought I would again, and now I think going Fructose Free is the next step :)

I am not addicted to any chocolates or cakes, as I can't have wheat and lactose anyway but my biggest weakness is ice cream- especially lemob sorbet :D so I will try and see how i can substitute that.

I hope I don't find it too hard, I've given up so much already for my health that this should be pretty good, I 've never had much of a sweet tooth as I always find sweet things overwhelming. But i do like tomato sauce :) and like I said, ice cream.

Just a question, I'm a bit confused about the start, if you go cold turkey, can you still have for the first week food with artificial sweeteners?

    Cheers,
    Nicky

ps. thank you everyone for creating such a lovely and helpful forum and Thank you David, above all r the books !

    Welcome to the forum,

I have been sugar free for three months and still use artificial sweeteners.  From the recipes in David's second book you will see that the use of Dextrose is widely used in place of sugar.  This product is available at supermarkets (I got mine at IGA).

Best of luck, I am enjoying this new eating regime so much and hope you do also.

    Regards Margaret

    Thank you Margaret :)

I found some dextrose today, also glucose syrup and the pure harvest rice malt syrup . I was surprised at how sweet dextrose was, but i guess since i've weaned off fructose the past few months (still had sugar but not much as I've been on the low fructose diet) I am going off sweets slowly.
