What am I doing wrong?

We have been following the no sugar plan for approx 4 weeks now.  I have not had anything with sugar (except fruit) since we started.  I did make the no bake cheesecake for a dinner party which went down really well.  BUT  I'm putting on weight, I have poached eggs, bacon & toast or porridge for brekky, meat & salad sandwich for lunch (no dressing or sauces) and dinner is usually the norm of steak and veg, or curry or anything that doesn't contain sugar. (If I get hungry in between meals I have a handful of raw cashews or a piece of fruit - but not more that 2 per day)  I am a breast cancer survivor and have taken the no sugar road for that reason but I don't want to put on weight!  Hope you can help. Cheers.

tip - get hungry before you eat. If you aren't getting hungry before the next meal, eat a little less so that you arrive at the next meal hungry (NOT desperately, but a noticeable need to eat)   also withdraw fully from sucrose before starting on the dextrose sweetened foods. I left it three months before I baked a couple of things for Christmas. And don't make dextrose sweetened foods very often. I decided to expect that most of my food is now savoury, with fruit as sweetness.

Withdrawal was a longer process for me than I expected, the worst was over in 2 weeks, but I kept noticing changes for a lot longer...6-8 weeks? Very sharp mini cravings for example...easy to deal with because they were short.

I lost weight steadily for 3 months, and now it's slowed so I might try less carbs now as David suggests, but the hunger tip above is what I'd try first... but both strategies together should be good!

    Hope this helps!
