Hi, I've just started (almost at the two week mark) and so far so good.  I've found today to be my hardest as I've been unwell and usually when unwell I'll reach for the chocolate etc to 'feel better'.  I managed to resist (yay!) but just barely.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good snack items?  I've been eating pretzels but I'm a little unsure if this is okay to do........

    open to any alternatives!

    thanks :-)

    Hi Nicole,

Congrats on your first two weeks... I know the temptation can be tough when you are sick, but good on you for resisting!

I've been on the fructose free journey since Boxing Day. When I first started out, I let myself eat anything I wanted that wasn't sugar-loaded - party pies, sausage rolls etc. I did this because I wanted to avoid feeling like I was depriving myself... I did that for a couple of weeks and then felt ready to let go of my security blanket.

So now for snacks, I have a couple of options - cheese and saladas, carrot sticks with hommus or almonds. Milk is another "snack" I like - good combo of protein, carbs and fat.

Hope that helps and good luck with your fructose free mission!

    Steph.

    Hi Steph,

thanks for the tips! I love my milk so will stick to that for sure.... I hadn't considered cheese & saladas, that would be perfect for work.

Thanks again, it's nice to know there are others out there who have been/are going through the same :-)

    cheers

    Nic

    Hi Nicole,

I've been fructose free for almost 6 weeks now.

Often I can go from one meal to the next without snacking (could not do that when I used to eat sugar) but if I feel like a snack I'll have crackers with cheese, nuts, popcorn (with butter & salt), plain potato crisps or even some fruit like a small bunch of grapes or an apple. I don't eat a lot of fruit but sometimes its nice.

For a treat I made some chocolate icy poles (recipe is on the website) and they were great. Delicious but quite rich so I didn't feel like 'pigging out' on them.

Good luck with your fructose-free journey :-)

    Hi

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.  I have just signed on today and with my main reason as being "lose weight".

Oh goodness I am sooo sick of the cycle.  I've tried it all and this is my last port of call.

Any goodnews stories out there - I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks

    Eugenie
