Hi All
I have been reading all your lovely posts and thought I'd say hi and introduce myself.
I am 30, a mum of 2 beautiful boys (16 months and 4 weeks), have a great hubby and have just finished reading Sweet Poison. What an interesting and somewhat concerning read! I have decided to minimise fructose in my diet after reading about the associated health concerns raised in David's book.
I have some post pregnancy weight to lose (I need to lose about 9kg to get back to my ideal weight - I currently have a BMI in the healthy range though) and I think significantly reducing the amount of fructose I consume will assist with this. However, the main reason for changing my and my family's eating habits is to ensure the good health of my kids. I think that when we know better, we are obliged to do better. So now that the dangers and potential dangers of consuming too much fructose have come to my attention, I can't ignore the changes that need to be made.
I have gone cold turkey and today was day 6, and the worst day so far. I think my struggle to avoid sugar is exacerbated by the fact that I am seriously sleep deprived from getting up to a newborn all night and not being able to drink caffeine because I am breastfeeding. No sugar, caffeine or sleep is really not ideal! But - I might as well seize the day and get on with it. I also can't believe how thirsty I have been!
Looking forward to reading how everyone's progressing and any tips you might have.
Chantel
