    Hi y'all,

    Wassup?

Me? Well.....been a 'solid looking' girl (aka overweight) all of my 42 years. Tried every diet I ever heard of without success.....unless you define success as feeling like crap. Like the idea of giving up sugar because it can cause so many health problems aside from weight gain. I just want to learn to like and care for myself. Anyone who feels their very existence has been soley defined by weight and food issues might understand what I mean.

Also.....I live in Mackay, one of the biggest sugar cane producing regions in Queensland. Sweet irony?

    Welcome to the forums Sera.

Have you also joined the Sweet Poison forum?  It seems to be a bit busier over there.

Hope you sugar-free journey is an enjoyable one.

Thanks Nadine. Will head over there now.

I hope my sugar free journey goes well too. I have to say, based on past dietary failures, I'm a little skeptical whether this will work for me. I guess that's what 'living life through old wounds' means :P

Willing to give it a good try though.

    Hi Sera,

I don't often go onto this part of the site and did just now and the first thing I read is that you are from Mackay. So am I. Small world. Good luck with it. I have been doing it for about four weeks. Have given in to chocolate a few times. I am not really over weight but I am doing it more for a health change. It has made a difference. Concentrate on breakfast. I totally changed my breakfast and find that if I don't start my day with sugar then I can normally get through the day okay. Good luck.

    Hi Nicole,

Yup...it definitely is a small world! We've lived in the Mackay area for about 15 years now.

Glad to hear of your success with the sugar free lifestyle. The more I read on the subject the more I'm convinced that no matter what size or shape we are, we could all do with less sugar. My biggest problem with cravings is after dinner especially if we're watching TV. I'm going to try and change these sorts of unhelpful habits by doing something else like learning guitar, painting and craft. Idle hands are the sugar devil's playthings.

Thanks for your kind wishes. All the best to you as well :-)

Hi Sara, how are going with sugar free lifestyle.  I have just been doing this for 2 weeks and am very happy that I have made this decision.  I need to lose about 25 kilos.  I read your entry from June 2011 and wondered if you are still leading a surgar free way of life.
