Newbie, expat living in the Middle East and teaching English. I've just come back from summer vacation and gained so much weight from all the unhealthy food that I have to do something! The light went on when I remembered my colleague here lost weight and felt great after reading the 'White Poison' book, so I am determined to try. I know I am heavily addicted to sugar, and I think I'm becoming glucose intolerant, which is the first step to Type II diabetes. I went off sugar once before and felt amazing, so this time I will try to stick at it! Living in the Middle East is quite difficult, as most things here are sweet (Gulf Arabs have very sweet teeth, and consequently type II diabetes is running at about 24% of the population). But now it's Ramadan (fasting month), so this is a good time to change my diet and my life. Wish me luck, as I wish all of you luck, too :)
Hey Elizabeth,
WOW, living in the middle east ..... what a great experience. I'm in Brisbane !!!
I am a newbie also. My introduction is under "It Worked For Me" and it has. Sweet Poison has changed many aspects of my life, not just my eating and weight.
I am happy to share what I have done and maybe it may assist you. Please just ask and I will share my experience.
Keep strong,
Muzza
