Hello, I'm only 52 but have been chronically ill for over three years (and I'm not impressed about it either!). What started as an hereditary thyroid disease (which is an auto-immune disease) has morphed into early onset arthritis (mid-twenties), IBS, fibromyalgia and myalgic encephalitis.

Since 1998 eating chicken has made me ill, and around seven years ago I realised I could not eat gluten. I'm not good with yeast.

Earlier this year I had some wonderful non-invasive testing done with a naturopath which showed that I am sensitive to preservatives and food additives. As soon as I stopped eating preservatives (especially those found in cheese - Aldi has the best range of preservative-free cheese that I can find) the brain fog that I'd had for years disappeared!!!

I had constant candida but I found that taking a teaspoonful or two of Himalayan salt in water (brine solution) each morning kept the candida practically under control (does this mean it's a mineral deficiency?).

When I read David's books I thought to myself: candida eats sugar so maybe if I go off sugar the candida may go away and I may have fewer problems with digestion (as more than 70 per cent of the immune system is in the gut this may help with the myalgic encephalitis).

I was not a big sugar eater and I didn't touch soft drink. I did like my apple juice in the morning though so that has gone in the bin. It surprised me that my CSIRO-developed cereal has such a high sugar content. It also amazes me to see sugar in so many savoury foods. So it's back to basics for me :)

I have only been off the sugar for a few weeks and I seem to be losing around half a kilo per week. I have not noticed any other change (except craving sugar sometimes!). I am severely overweight due to the thyroid disease (hypothyroid) and I find it exceptionally difficult to lose weight so losing one pound a week is a triumph!!!

    Blessings

Hi, Anaree. I was interested in the candida thing, Where do you buy the Himalayan salt stuff? Is it expensive. I had the same thought after it driving me up the wall, I tried the over the counter medication, didn't work, the chemist said to cut out sugar, well, in my experience, it hasn't helped at all. But I have noticed recently that if I don't have mushrooms, (which I love) it seems to calm down a bit, a lot actually.
I have also just changed over my table salt with added Iodine to Sea Salt, I found I had a 2 kilo container in the back of my pantry! I had read somewhere table salt is bad for you, can't remember why, but natural sea salt is ok. I think it's because It's too refined & has additives. So that may be something to look at too, for you. There is a website where I found out a lot of stuff about getting rid of Candida, but it seemed so hard, my eyes just glazed over!!!  You had to cut out toooo much.

Good luck with all your problems, lots of info on the Internet, though, takes up a bit of your time, but may be worth it. I wish you well on your fructose free journey. It's not a diet, it's a way of life.

    Hello Sylvia
Thank you for taking the time to write.
The Himalayan salt cant be purchased at most supermarkets and health food shops. It costs me less than $10 a year.  :)
That is interesting that cutting out mushrooms eases the candida problem for you. I love mushrooms too. I try to be vegetarian so mushrooms become a large part of the diet.
I am currently taking Metagenics Ultra Flora Restore for six months. I have heard that is very good for restoring gut flora.
Like you, I found no benefit from Yokult or Inner Health and other over-the-counter products.
I have heard that having colonic irrigation is good for clearing the intestines but I have not tried that yet.
    Blessings, anaree

    Anaree,

At least there are many sugar free recipes there.

I use Celtic salt when I wish to season. It is lovely and doesn't make you so thirsty. I buy that at 'Healthy Life'.

Anaree, also remember, most bread has yeast in it, too, & so to be avoided. Have you looked into the latest link, I got it from Grace on the Sweet Poison site, all about Leptin Resistance. Link Here:-

    http://jackkruse.com/my-leptin-prescription/

Sounds very interesting & may be of some help for both of us. Another link here:-

I didn't know you could buy Himalayan salt in the Supermarket, will look next time I'm here, (if I remember)  sigh....

    Good luck with it all

Hello Silver Angel, thank you for the information. Yes, it is difficult to find bread (even gluten free) that is yeast free. Aldi occasionally stocks a bread packet mix with no yeast (Aldi's "Has no.." brand). Blessings, anaree

Hello my name is Maria Sara, and I have just bought The Sweet Poison Quit Plan, the reason

I bought this book is because I saw a segment on Sunrise,  I have started the quit plan a few days ago and I am finding it a little difficult and confusing on what foods to eat and also where do I buy

Dextrose powder, can anyone advise please.  Also, as I have an extremely sweet tooth and cannot go by a day without something sweet in fact, every meal time I finish it with something sweet, how difficult is this going to be and should I start seeing some results with weight loss in the first few weeks.  Looking forward to hearing from you. thanks
