I am so interested in this site after reading David's 1st book reading about the effects of sugar, that I decided this was the path regarding a healthy lifestyle that I wanted to follow along with daily exercise. I have been a real gym junkie for years and overweight at times, but this book just seemed to make so much sense when it described what effect sugar had in our body. I could never work out how I could exercise so much, eat basically healthy food and still have a weight problem.

This information has changed how I think about everything regarding my past habits.

David, when you mentioned forget about all chocolate, Aldi's Moser 85% Dark Chocolate I adore.

Per 25g serving - 3.3g sugar    I have completely withdrawn all sugar products from my daily meals, would a 25g bar of this chocolate matter once or twice a week. Yes it has got some sugar, it is so dark and strong, 1 bar seems to be enough..........what are your thoughts.

So sorry to break it to you like this but  I have found that no sugar means no sugar!  It is a mind set and once you've made the decision that's it.  Cold turkey.  Have you tried little nibbles of carob?  its a bit sweet and chocolatey naturally.  I don't know what others think about carob but it is a thought.  Helen

Thanks for the reply, yes that is how it is, I am completely sugar free after 8 weeks and didn't find the process along the way too bad. I noticed this chocolate and have tried it some time back and found it not sweet at all, but you are right, sugar is sugar and I put it down too exploring food labels and asking the questions. I have never enjoyed my life more than now, nearly 57 and just focusing on good natural food and a comfortable exercise daily routine. After reading David's book, it gives you so much incentive to explore more about what we give our bodies. I have read a lot of nutrition books by different authors and find that there are good messages in most of them. But the best message I have found is what signals my body sends to me regarding what I have just eaten or not done exercise wise. I must admit the message throughout David's book though was so powerful and important, that I needed to practice it and see how I felt........and I believe that is why I even feel better in myself now. If anyone would like to respond I would be happy to chat with you.

Hey, Judy, I am already a fan, after your post on the power of positive thinking. I have been doing this for 14 months now, lost 17 kilos, some ups & downs on the way. But I still have heaps more to lose, and I must say, it's a bit daunting. Although, it doesn't feel much like that long, as most of the time I was losing weight.
At the moment, though, I'm a bit stuck, so your encouraging words has helped make me more aware.

Good on you for sticking it out for 8 weeks. My way of thinking is, if you always remember this is a way of life now, it goes a long way to helping your mindset understand this is not a diet, and you will have success. As well as making some short term goals on the way, (and sharing them) you should do well.  But you may find that you will have to go low-carb at some point. We are all different, and what works with me, may not work for you and your circumstances.  You have to experiment and work out what suits you.

I wish you well, maybe we will see you over on the Sweet Poison forum, too. Lots of lovely people on both sites to help you on your journey.
