Hi Freda,
Whey protein is a natural by-product from cheese production. So, nuts...natural...whey protein.... natural.
So "naturally"....a personal choice, even though I consume some nuts as well, and I consume both foods in moderation. The major part of David's plan is to reduce fructose to a point where the biochemical process inhibited by it, does not result in the over-production of fatty acids which then turn into fat. In one of my earlier posts I stated that I try to limit animal protein due to its fat content, in other words to moderate it. The whey protein is a good replacement, even though it is animal protein ie cheese, and without the fructooligosaccharide as a sweetener, a dirivative of fructose. Meat has a higher animal fat content than whey protein powder. However I do not use the whey as a total meal replacement, my food comprises a good variety ie protein and the carbs, broccoli, sprouts, oats, As the sugar guides on this site say, most vegetables are ok.
Hope this explains my plan.
Regards
David M
